It's a stealth rebuild that's hidden under the guise of staying competitive. I see JB signing Eriksson and possibly Lucic and making a play for Stamkos (if only to drive up the price for whoever signs him). The thing is, our fanbase is too fickle to tolerate a total rebuild, and our owner isn't the type to allow us to miss the playoffs for too long.
It comes down to the fact that to pay to see a game at Rogers Arena is far too expensive for the average fan, the type of fan who'd be happy with seeing youth struggle, grow and watch the team slowly become great. Tickets start at $50 for the cheapest seats and that's not including the cost of transportation, parking, food, drinks, etc. Notwithstanding the fact that the average fan lives mostly in the Valley which is the only place that's cheap enough to buy a home. - DariusKnight
If Vancouver was able to get some good players during free agency then its not really impossible to say they could make a run at the playoffs providing people can stay healthy

Health is a big issue, we don't have the depth if any of the Sedins, Sutter, Bo, Edler, Tanev or Gudbrandson go down to long term injuries. That's just the reality with the travel schedule.
I'd love for Seattle and Portland to get an NHL team so that we could have a real Pacific Division with the 3 Cali teams, and Edmonton, Calgary, Colorado, Las Vegas, Arizona and Dallas be the Central Division and then have Chicago, Minny, St. Louis, Columbus, Winnipeg be like the Midwest Division. |

A healthy klefbom, nurse/Davidson developing Furthur could go a long ways
And a top 4 acquisition ....
But I won't hold my breath |

I hate seeing Vegas getting a team how will that end up being any different then the Florida teams? It probably would have worked out better in Seattle tbh but as far as travel goes that would be much better

Except Seattle has shown no interest in a hockey team. I'm not sure they are any more of a slam dunk market than Vegas is. |

True enough im just tired of seeing these markets get teams that wont give a damn after a few years....the Panthers playoff attendance was embarassing it shouldnt be that way.....should just relocate current struggling teams before awarding new ones

Or just one of those northwest markets and keep cbj in the east as it's actually Furthur east than Tennessee
Van, Seattle, 3 cali teams
Edm, cgy, Vegas, Arizona. Colorado
Winnipeg , chi, minny, st loo , Dallas , Nashville
Looks deec.
Thing is, Arizona and Vegas are very close to la and Anaheim . Lot of travel time added by putting them in a different division |

I agree. I don't mind the attempt itself, you never know where hockey will take off, but if it doesn't work it doesn't work. Stop trying to shove it down people's throats and just move on. |

True enough, but they'd be flying up to Edmonton and Calgary which is the same distance as LA to Vancouver so it would balance out in the long run. What I would love to do is negate the advantage the Metropolitan division has with all it's teams being within a few hours driving distance of each other and being able to literally drive home to sleep at night instead of being forced to stay overnight in a hotel. |
