I don't think he was our target anyways
My guess is tkachuk or a defender
As long as puljujarvi turns into a two way top 6 beast I'm happy with whatever happens with Dubois
6'4- 205- brilliant skater/dynamic talent and solid defensively
Fukin eh rights - Ihateallofu

There's really no room for RNH on this team. He'll be playing 3rd line minutes for 6 million. It'd be a lot smarter to flip that for Shattenkirk.
Also Chairelli has 12 million to work with here, so offer sheeting the poop out of RFAs would be great. - I_Love_Timmies
I would love shattenkirk but all reports that I've heard say shattenkirk wants to go out east. So if that's true I don't like giving up major assets to get shattenkirk so he can walk as a UFA next year |

Exactly. JP is a better fit for us and he's more NHL ready. Sure Dubois could end up being better but so could a guy in the 5th round. I'm very happy with JP - kessellover69
I'm Ecstatic actually
I probably haven't been this happy about a pick since hall. (Mcdavid doesn't count ) |

Do you think he screws the BlueJackets and offer sheets Jones?

I don't know anything about him other than he's huge with little to no offensive acumen
I generally don't know much about prospects beyond even the top 10-15
I'll do my homework later if there's rumblings he's actually more than just a late round flyer
Maxbone, coga etc usually know prospects pretty well |

Honestly, the past two years they've done a great job of drafting. Picked up a gem in Benson.
The one thing that annoyed me is the third round. We picked three defensemen, and all of whom are left shooting. |

My personal opinion is that the reason CLB passed on JP is because of cap reasons. They would have had to find 3.25 million in cap space for JP on top of Jones 6 mill. So I think they take Dubois so they can stash him in junior for 2 years without a cap hit.
I'd offer sheet Jones but I think CLB matches. There aloud to spend 7 mill over the cap in the summer. |

He seems like an awesome kid. I was watching a behind the scenes thing that happened right after the draft and he seemed very happy to come to Edmonton instead of Columbus. His dad say this is better for him and Jesse excitingly said " that's where korpikoski plays right? "
I guess we better keep that Finn now - kessellover69

I thought it was more a positional need, but this is a reasonable guess |

The third one is a RHD I believe. The first one we took at 63 is left shot but plays right side and bobby Mak and a lot of scouting services had him raked in the top 40. I'm really happy with our top three picks. I originally wanted debrincat over benson but benson was my second choice |

Ya I think it could be a combination of the two. They need cap space and a centre so this was the best bet. They are so screwed for cap space |

He sounds like one of those kids that fell because gms are often loathe to take any risks
Otherwise he's a first round talent |

A reporter asked about the snub that Columbus gave him, he had this to say: "I don't mind. Edmonton is a real hockey town." - I_Love_Timmies
You could see how excited he was when asked about the chance to play with McDavid...I think the kid will be just fine in Edmonton

Minimal offensive talent but is supposedly a solid first pass guy. Aside from that, he's 20 and his most notable skill according to the minimal information I could muster is his ability to "stand guys up". He's 6'6 and a RH shot playing in the college system so I get why they picked him, just can't agree with guys like Burke, Boucher, and Somppi on the table. |

I wonder if that was who PC was talkin about during his presser after the first round when he said there is someone they wanted for sure with that pick

Yakupov, Pitlick and next years 3rd for Severson.
Also wants to sign Demers. - I_Love_Timmies
New Jersey would refuse. |

Oh you are correct, sorry about that.
Also Niemelainen is the 6'6 guy drafted at #63. |
