Isn't there an Omaha guy around here? What's the low down on Ryan Jones? Seems to have had a break out season in the USHL, but that probably doesn't mean much. - Victoro311
I'm the Omaha guy. I had no clue who Ryan Jones was before today. He played in Lincoln, which is only 45 min away from Omaha, but only caught one USHL game in Omaha(Lemieux's son plays for the Omaha Lancers btw). Long story short is I'll def be keeping an eye on him now that he plays for Nebraska-Omaha. |

I don't even see how Dallas is planning dealing with their current goalie situation. |

And yet Connor Hall plays for Canada's national team. Intangibles. I'm fine with Hall! - Barnaby36
Ah intangibles. That thing we tried building the roster around the last six years that lead to so many early playoff exits. Intangibles are my favorite stat
To be honest, none of these guys have proven anything. Even Auston Matthews could bust. Who's to say Hall won't end up being a good pick. That being said, I think we could have done better. Look at past U18 national rosters. Every year there's players that ended up busting. Just because he was on the U18 team doesn't mean they're going to be good. |

It's the draft. There's no hockey for months. My job ended forever ago. I don't start gradschool until August. How am I supposed to pass the time? I can only watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer for so many consecutive hours. - Victoro311

Exactly. A useful exercise when getting all worked up about draft picks is to go back and look at drafts from about 3-4 years ago and then each year prior to see how few names you actually recognize, let alone who are regular players.
In fact, even Calgary's #6 pick that everyone thought was this untouchable, sure-fire gem, you go back and look at the last 25 years of #6 picks and maybe 10-20% are guys you've even heard of. Sure, a couple of studs, but mostly busts. Players in rounds 2 and beyond are one here, one there, but mostly guys who have never sniffed the NHL. Stockpiling picks increases your odds of winning the lottery and I'm sure scouting plays a role, but I don't think it's ever something to worked up over or frankly to even have an opinion on. A lot can change between now and when these players, even if they succeed in the minors, are ready to make a contribution. Team needs will change a lot in that time, too.
One name that comes to my mind is Angelo Esposito. |

Quite comfortably but it would leave is with five NHL defensemen. |

With Wilson coming back our forward situation looks pretty good, and we could be in the Vesey mix... That would be a big add at a cheap price. |

Why is there something else? We would be doing Dallas a major favor taking back a 4.5 million backup goalie. |

Nope, Dallas would need us to do them a favor by taking a backup making 4.5 million or so ... they would need to add ... not us. Not a fan of DP yet, but he doesn't need to be included.

We'd be taking a young stud In Nichushkin too right? Plus Niemi is no garbage although overpaid. Something like a B prospect Would be added In this deal IMO. |

Pouliot Would be too much indeed. It Would be more like Zlobin or a Uher types. |

We would be giving Dallas a far superior goalie to what they have. We would be doing them a favor in taking back an ok goalie making 4.5 million, one that would be a backup. They would have to add to this to make it worthwhile, even though we need to get rid of Fleury at some point. I would ask for Nischuskin knowing they say now and then come back with Honka, the D prospect. We don't need to add.

We don't need to add. This has nothing to do with DP. Let's be honest, his value isn't high. That said, Dallas needs to add to Niemi to get Fleury. |

Please fix I-80! Phone flew off the dash three days ago and busted going through there...missed all of draft coverage. |

Only one more year until we have a first round pick! |

I realize we just won the cup but I really dont like our top 6 winger situation unless we break up HBK. Sheary, Rust, Kunitz are nice players..but you could argue all three are better suited in the bottom 6. Man, we are asking Sid and Geno to carry these guys on their backs.
JR already said we won't be signing anyone in Free Agency. He said there is not enough cap room to sign anyone.
I really think we need to make a push for Nuke or Yak. |
