I didn't hate the Zacha pick. I make no secret that I wanted Provorov, but Zacha has a lot of offensive upside. This pick just made no sense whatsoever.
You knock armchair GMs, but how has our real team done in the first round over the past 15 or so years? - Mr.Bobby

Anyone tell me what pick we got for trading down to 12? Cant find it reported anywhere? I guess TSN, espn, Ek, hockeybuzz or Todd don't care to report the whole story. Sorry Todd but you gave us half the story.
Btw i also wanted Provorov last year and hate the Flyers grabbed him |

I actually don't hate the pick. Wasn't big on Brown or Chychrun, kinda sucked when Keller got picked. There really weren't any studs left and McCleod has an interesting skillset. - rmdevil313
calm cool and collected as ever. nothing rattles this guy. |

Ottawa's '16 3rd. we have 3 3rd round picks. Should've went up for Keller. Idk why we wouldn't trade up. Give our 2nd-7ths + an average prospect and get up to take a potential franchise player. instead we keep all these meh picks that if we're lucky will amount to a top 6 player.. if we're lucky. pointless. We won't suck every year, so when we're in or near the top 10 I think we HAVE to go for it. blah. |

So everyone is butthurt that they took Mcleod over Brown because Mcleod doesn't score? Because they both scored the same number of goals this past year and Mcleod did it on a significantly worse team(him and Nylander were the only players of any kind of note on the team). You people should really watch them play before crucifying them |

Brown was the best player on the table and we traded down for a poop player and a pick that won't amount to anything. - shvingter88

We took a guy who saw his draft stock fall throughout the year and had knee surgery was generally rated in the mid-teens over picking 11 and getting a guy who saw his stock rise to a point that most had him as a top ten pick.
We suck at the first round, at least we are generally pretty good at day 2 of the draft. Hopefully they pull something off today. |

5 second rounders and 6 third rounders between now and 2018.
Please use some to move up and get DeBrincat. Back to back 50 goal, 100 point seasons at Eerie. I don't care that the guy is 4'11", he can bury them. |

This kind of reminds me of Q vs. Lemieux...
I don't think Brown was that ahead of McLeod... he'll probably be a second line center vs Mcleod a 3rd line center, but teams can use McLeods to bolster their special teams and shut down opposing best players while Brown will probably end up putting up points himself (doubt he'll be as good as Joe Thornton).
Look how valuable a guy like Brendan Gallagher is to the Canadiens. He's not a prolific player, but they're as lost without him as they are without Price.
It's a strange pick... you miss the playoffs so you feel like you should get a guy that has star potential, but all you get is a utility player... you feel cheated. But that's the reality of picking 11(12). Brown, I'm sorry, doesn't have that much star potential either... he'd just have been less intimidated by opposition.
We'll just see where Brown is 3 years from now, but now that I've researched McLeod... he's pretty much a lock to make the NHL as a depth player, just like Q was. And I'm happy with Q now... he'll be a good addition to the Devils I'm thinking by late November when we get our first major injury. |

I love how we say this is the guy who will be feeding palms lmao if palms is still on the first line in 3 years then we will know that we did absolutely nothing but continue to be garbage. Palmerie and Rico and everyone on our team is a second line forward there isn't one real first liner o. This team and (frank) right off if you think cammy who will play 40 games next year is. We need to add a player that is still far and away better then (frank)ing palms you guys are settling already. It's pretty clear we aren't finding our star players in the draft. |

Players hit the height of their abilities in their mid to late 20's usually right? The thing I find strange is we act as though this kid we see here - with his current skillset is going to be exactly what we see on the ice in the NHL in 2-3 years. Give the kids a year or two with NHL coaches - especially a hardass like Hynes and you will see great development in these players. Speed can't really be taught. Neither can size, but he's not little or anything. |

Well it certainly won't be had in free agency this year. Shero needed to stack picks in order to make some sort of a deal. I still, as much as I love him, think Cory needs to be traded next off season. He is in his prime and we'll be wasting it away. We have a couple more years to even get going again. Hopefully Vegas can take Zajac off our hands too.

All the seconds and thirds - coupled with the cap available (I don't think any of the Devils free agents have been signed) there is a lot of room for moves. Cap strapped teams and teams with big dollar bad deals like NYR with Nash and LA with Brown. Trades are coming.

Yeah and you don't see us picking up the average ones ? And missing on the real steals because that's how I see it playing out man. I thought we would of taken anyone really over McLeod or traded down I would of taking gauthier over McLeod if I was to reach like we could of traded down to 15 to take McLeod. We will add another runt type player who will put up 40-50 pts and everyone will say oh well there was nothing to be had and not that Ray just plain struck out |

I wouldn't mind us getting Pascal Laberge today but Debrincat or any of the high end scorers. After that first pick I'm not ready for us to start taking D men yet. |

Mcleod is going to make Canada's WJ team this winter. He was scouted to go from anywhere from 7-19. The Devils did fine here. They have enough young depth on the blue line that they could afford to make this pick. |

It's easier to bury goals in the OHL. He's going to get knocked off the puck so easily in the NHL. He doesn't chew enough Big Red. |

I think that ship has sailed (on Severson). I don't see how Shero can use him in a worthwhile deal. |
