Why does it matter when there are players like Fasching Bailey and Baptiste still? Not to mention the other 2nd rounders?

Stamkos is more important.

- Stripes77

IF they play to Foligno's level they'll want $2ish mil per year before the end of Stamkos' deal.

IF they play to above Foligno's level they'll want $4ish mil per year before the end of Stamkos' contract.

Eventually the current crop of guys that are good will also need $.

If we have ELCs that can fill more of these roles when we are forced to part ways with someone it hurts less and our team can continue being successful like Chicago.

I'm not even really arguing you're wrong or my way is better just that there is another viewpoint. I would rather have Stamkos than not so whatever gets that done.

When we were contemplating drafting like 4th or 5th I was thinking Nylander would be a decent pick. I think you guys are going to be pleasantly surprised. He might be the better of the two.
- Aetherial

I wanted Nylander as well, but he never did what Will did in Europe. I don't think he'll be the better of the two.

Still probably going to be a hell of a player.

If they want $4 million than that extra $2 million savings is huge! Not to mention it could be used at the deadline to take on some salary for a big playoff push

Funny most scouts think Alex is the more dynamic player and goal scorer. William more of a playmaker.

I'd heard that too. Did Alex even play in the SHL?

Quite the opposite. Alex is more the playmaker like his dad. william is the goal scorer. They too simular to debate who is better. Alex is bigger amd william sees the ice better.

Yeah, some good decisions the last year or so.

Long road ahead though. Watching the talent in the last few rounds of the playoffs makes you realize how far away you are. I am also pretty apprehensive about the whole Andersen thing.

- Aetherial

Andersen is a really good goalie. And without a guy breathing down his neck he will be even better.

He may be the better goalscorer, doesn't mean he's the better player.

At the same age, in the same league, William scored the same number of goals, and notched three more points, in 15 fewer games. And for what it's worth, William was a +14 to Alex's -4.

The next two years, William went on to put up numbers in the Swedish pro leagues that were unheard of for players his age, and then dominated the AHL.

Alex had the kind of season in the OHL you'd expect from a top-10 pick, but nothing you don't see every year from a number of players.

Time will tell.

Hopefully they trade Bernier.

Guy's going to be hungry, but splitting games doesn't seem to work for goalies.

Unreal. I just saw that deal Arizona made - that might be the worst trade in NHL history...
- Cup Crazy '07

It isn't the best but it isn't bad either. They moved up and got a player they wanted. They aren't going to miss that cap space anyways.

Detroit managed to trade Datsyuk, and just moved down 4 spots... but also picked up a second and a good bottom-6 player.

So... doesn't seem too hard

Okay then if that's the case we'll go ahead and trade Moulson

Opinions vary on that lol. But he'll be perma-IR most likely anyways.
