Well he wants to go to a contender. Detroit made the playoffs last year and now can make a more competitive offer. I think that helps them.

It means something because they are opening up their new arena, they want him to be the face of their franchise, it's just as close to Toronto as Buffalo pretty much, they have a long storied history of being an elite team, Stamkos is said to like Detroit for a long time.

All it means is that they can offer a bigger contract honestly. I don't know if their current sales pitch of their current team is much better than ours. Moving out of the Joe actually might hurt them. haha

Sorry about misspeaking earlier. I didn't realize players on loan also went through the Import Draft. You know what they say about assuming.

Regardless, he was still under contract with his Swedish team when he played in the OHL (hence the loan). Effectively, Nylander was drafted out of Europe, not the CHL, despite playing in the OHL last year, so the Transfer Agreement does not apply to him.

I for one did not expect a lot of big moves during this whole offseason due to the inevitable expansion draft. Teams know that when that poop goes down (and especially the period leading up to it) there will be moves galore and players at all positions available. Teams will have to decide between exposing good players or possibly getting at least something before they get picked off.

Trades and moves are going to be mostly for the few big names out there like Yandle, Stammer, etc and for the young'uns who are automatically protected from expansion (Vesey for one).
