Such a Bruins reach. Heart, gritty, lower skilled bottom 6 player.
That's my Sweeney I love. |

5 picks before us. Guys like Abramov, Dahlen, Asplund, DeBrincat, Katchouk, Bitten, Kyrou, Laberge, Benson.....all guys we could take at 36. And then there's a bunch at 48/52. Maybe even a couple of those. This draft went great tonight. |

I miss the days of all day NFL draft. I'd love the same from the NHL. Oh well. What time tomorrow?
Thanks for the info. |

Of all players selected in 1st, Rubtsov played the fewest games this past season, is that because of the drug scandal? |

Benson would be a great pick in the second with our pick at 32. Unfortunately he had trouble with injuries last year but he is a great player. I think had he played a full season last year he would have been a guaranteed first rounder. |

Jesus Bill, looking back over this article, you had a lot of foreshadowing for this Rubtsov pick. Looks like you knew something the rest of us didn't, eh? |

Given the emphasis on a 2-way center, I'd almost prefer a pure skilled winger or pure sniper at 36. Benson would be great, but he's more a character type with skill. I'd like someone who is just dynamic.
Monster 2-way centers. Highlight reel wingers. Yum. |

They keep talking about how great it is to have all of these father-son NHL connections, but wouldn't it be better for the sport if it wasn't this way? |

I can not contain my level of happiness at what Ron Hextall pulled off tonight.
Rubtsov is a great value pick at 22. Plus, they're going to get a guy at 36 that could well be as good or better as any of the last 4 or 5 names called tonight.
Would have loved to land Luke Kunin, but Hextall did work tonight. |

I've wanted Benson all year ; even when he was projected at 15 in first round. But was before injuries. Still think he could be a high reward guy. |

I loved Kunin, but I had Rubs right there, maybe even -- not sure. The idea that we can get 1 of Abramov, Asplund, Dahlen, Bitten, Kyrou, Benson, Laberge, etc. at 36 AND Rubtsov sounds way better than just Kunin to me. Masterful trade. Oh yeah, we have 48 and 52 as well *bites lip, groans*
If Hexy had taken Rubs at 18, I would've been elated. To do this and get him? He is simply one of the best GMs in pro sports in his short run so far. He operates on another level. |

I'm floored. I want the second round to start right now. Hextall was masterful tonight. Masterful. He got his guy, added a premium pick and the way the 1st ended, he could get another 1st round talent at 36. |
