They didn't give up a first round pick for Datsyuk. Never thought they would. They gained a second round pick, a player in Vitale, about 6.4M in cap space, and all they gave up was moving back 4 spots in the first round to pick 20. Fantastic trade for Detroit.

Or not. 20-40 is pretty even. 36 is an amazing pick to move down 5 spots. I posited 18+48 for 23+33 from Florida and I thought that'd be great. This is basically the same. Better even.

We got their 22 and 36 because they wanted Logan Stanley at 18! So (frank)ing rich.
