It's funny, because just say that Schenn is truly a 55 to 60-point player.
Well, that's kinda what you're hoping the No. 4 pick in a draft is gonna be
People simply lose perspective. Schenn drove me nuts because of his inconsistency, and again, the Flyers did him no favors in some regards with constant positional switches
But he's probably a 50-60 point guy for the next 5-7 years, and I'd be comfortable keeping him, swallowing a little harder and giving him the $5 million or so he's gonna get - AllInForFlyers
Agreed. I would move him with 18 to get to 4-10 but if I'm including 18 AND Sanhiem I want Laine. |

Yes, but what if he wants 6 years @ $6M? The kid you pick at #4 won't command that for a while.
However, that kid is also likely 3-4 years away from producing like that at the NHL level, too.
Unless they're getting into the top 3, I'd rather keep Schenn. |

Just saying...if you put all the artists in the world right now and turned them into hockey players...DMB would easily be a top 4 defenseman. a bit old...a bit overpaid...but still much better than a lot of players |

I think they should be dealing from a position of strength
They shouldnt be trying to convince a team to take Sanheim or Schenn...they should have teams wanting to acquire those guys. Until that happens I have no interest in trading them
I would rather work deals that move picks around |

I am starting to think the flyers need to get to 3 or 4. Columbus needs a center and I could see them taking Dubois over Puljujarvi at 3 which would push Puljujarvi to 4. Schenn, Sanheim and 18 for 4 and yakupov.
That interest me. |

Absolutely -- you can price yourself out of what a team can afford, but with Schenn, you almost have to take into consideration what you went through to get him to this point
I don't know if he's as good as he was for the remainder of the season after his brother got moved; small sample size and all that
But I do know that we were all either waiting/hoping/begging for him to do it, and while you can always sell high, I'm not trying to hear about waiting for another kid to develop 3 or 4 years before they can compete for a job
Eff that -- you didn't move him before, didn't bring in any competition before. Pay the kid and move on |

Columbus will move back to take a Center. They won't pass over Puljujarvi at 3 if they keep the pick. They know Edmonton isn't taking a C either so I expect Columbus to take Puljujarvi at 3 or move back to 5 or 6. |

No one thought Jones would drop to the Predators.

No, but it makes no sense for Columbus to take a center at 3. Although it takes two to tango, they know that Pujulaarvi (I'm sure I butchered that) is the consensus 3rd, and could trade back to 4/5/6 and still draft their preferred center plus assets (or, if they trade with Edmonton who takes a center, draft Pujulaarvi and get Edm's assets). |

This is going to be a fun day. Can't wait to see Hexy maneuver through the options he has.
Only bad thing is I'll be having to keep up via my phone as I'll be at the Dave Matthews Band show tonight. - dragonoffrost
Have fun! I've seen them around 14 times. Would go this weekend, but saving up to see Phish next week. |

Many of you are going to be disappointed when Hexy simply stays at 18, and picks the BPA. I do think there is a chance he tries to package both 2nds and attempts to move up to somewhere between 25-35

I will have quite a mess on my hands when he stays at 18 and nails the pick AND moves back up. (last year it was 29 and a 2nd to move up to 24 though) |

Unless on their board they have Dubois higher.

I wouldn't be disappointed.
I know the chance of moving up is slim. The realistic odds are they stay at 18 and get someone like Rubstov, Bellows or Kunin. Possibly Jones and then all the analysts talk about how he is a "Flyers" guy. |

Yes...but think of it this way:
Last night, the #1/#2 consensus picks were Simmins and Ingram. But let's say the Sixers didn't want them, they wanted Kris Dunn. Everyone knew that Dunn wasn't going until #3 at the earliest. So, the Sixers could have traded the #1 overall pick to the team with the 3rd pick, plus another asset, and still gotten their guy.
Columbus can do the same. And, if you trade with Edmonton and do miss out on Dubois, then boo hoo, you're "stuck" with Pujulaarvi plus other assets. |

I haven't heard a compelling reason to give up assets to move -- I don't watch these kids play anymore, but I guess I'm still waiting to read the post that tells me why the Flyers have to move up |

Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Couturier and Schenn. Five forwards who can produce offensively on a regular basis. I'm not interested in moving Schenn for a player who might not play next season (I'm not convinced Konecny is ready either) or might need a couple of seasons to develop through juniors and the minors. I'm not interested in moving our pick and one of our prized prospects before they've sniffed the NHL.
If Hextall does this, in my opinion, Hextall goes against patience, which he preaches. |
