This is a great post Jsaq.

As for Gudas, the deal is a fair deal. If it was a 2.5 -3 mil deal we all would have been happy. Happy because you get a quality D-man for cheaper than usual. However, we need to have established top 4ish d-men for when we start to transition the younger guys up the ranks. Having Gudas on the team will not prevent a guy like Morin from making the jump when he is ready. It just takes a bit of pressure of the guys when they are actually here.

Each player mentioned is a bit different. Im not a huge fan of Gauthier. People hear the Rick Nash comparisons and run with them. Come on. The guy scored a bunch of goals in the Q.... but never really even dominated. He is a pure shooter, and one of the bigger draft eligible players, but he never seperated himself from the rest. That worries me a bit.

Jones, to me anyway, has the highest potential to have a long career in the NHL. He isnt a sink or swim guy like Gauthier, but a "how do a fit" type. He might go and become a Brandon Dubinski type player. He might be a Wayne Simmonds type. Then again, he might end up a bit like Matt Martin. Its that uncertainty that worries me about him.

I would be surprised if Jones doesn't have an NHL career, but I also think it's a 50-50 shot he ends up as a Raffi Torres, Ben Eager, Tom Wilson, Shawn Antoski type of 1st round pick who ends up as a role player.

Would be surprised if one or both of Read and Streit arent moved today.

Also, would love to move up if Keller is available, he's such a great player.
Also would love for Riley Tufte or Adam Fox to drop to us in 2nd rnd.

Doubt there are takers for Read, but it would be nice surprise. I don't think id retain any salary on the deal though.

With 11 picks I'd be shocked if the flyers stand pat on them. I'd think hextall has certain players targeted in different rounds and will maneuver accordingly. I'd expect about 3 trades

I agree, I also don't think hexy will move any of the kids..he has a plan and thankfully he won't deviate from it.

The one thing I hope he doesn't do this draft is take any goalies.

This is going to be a fun day. Can't wait to see Hexy maneuver through the options he has.

Only bad thing is I'll be having to keep up via my phone as I'll be at the Dave Matthews Band show tonight.

I'm thinking he'll take one. Got to keep the pipeline stocked and if you don't grab one this year it makes taking one next more imperative.

Bold prediction: Hexy and Flyers are the "winners of the draft" post draft analysis. I expect more wizardry from Hexy.

I would agree with that premise -- don't think they're making 11 picks over the next 36 hours, that's for sure

I think he'll take at least 1 goalie in Rounds 3-7. Right now, things look nice and rosy with Stolarz, Lyons, Sandstrom, Tomek, and Madsen, but none of them have yet to play 1 second of NHL hockey. Never a bad option to keep stocking that position bit by bit.

Thats kinda where I was going with Matt Martin. A guy who has the skill to be a 2nd liner, but has the tendencies of a 4th liner.

It's a funny seeing non Flyers fans react to the 18, Sanhiem,Schenn for 4 rumor. I think that absolutely gets you close to 4th overall.

I was so pissed when we traded two 2nds for him. My brother-in-laws were super pumped because he was the Fishguts top d-man.

I would take out Sanhiem and I think 18 and Schenn gets you to 8-10. I honestly don't see much difference between who's available at 4 and 10 to justify moving Sanhiem.

It's funny, because just say that Schenn is truly a 55 to 60-point player.

Well, that's kinda what you're hoping the No. 4 pick in a draft is gonna be

People simply lose perspective. Schenn drove me nuts because of his inconsistency, and again, the Flyers did him no favors in some regards with constant positional switches

But he's probably a 50-60 point guy for the next 5-7 years, and I'd be comfortable keeping him, swallowing a little harder and giving him the $5 million or so he's gonna get

And 1000% not worth it.

As long as they don't waste a first 2nd or 3rd on a goalie ill be happy.
