Aside from the Flyers not winning it more, I had no problem with the dynasties in the 70s and 80s. - Scoob
me neither, of course other than us running into said dynaties 3 times in the 80's. but as the game evolved, players evolved, and the game evolved around them. then changes were made and teams and players had to evolve again. parity became a norm not an exception. how fun is it seeing the NHL playoff bracket and having noooooooooo clue who is gonna win. whereas u look at the league on day 1 in the NBA and know its gonna be either Golden State, SA or the Thunder in the West, and whatever team Lebron is on in the west.
just terrible IMO |

I'm worried that they'll be competing with teams that are willing to use those NMCs. If I were a player about to sign for 3+ years, I would want a NMC even if it meant a little less money.
The 1 or 2 year deals obviously wouldn't carry those stipulations. I'd be ok with bringing back Gagner too. - PhillySportsGuy
You don't feel like it's gonna be a really soft market for UFA's? Not sure many guys will have the leverage to be making demands.... see a lot of camp tryouts and late-summer 1-year deals happening. Which plays perfectly into Hexy's hands. |

I honestly never knew what channel the hockey was on. In general the NHL better be thinking hard about their presentation and their marketing, because they didn't just lose to the NBA, they got annihilated. - BulliesPhan87

I'm not 100% sure on that though as they didn't get my viewership. I just couldn't watch that team .... |

This is exactly where I am. The team has some assets to play with and I think they should really explore moving up to get Keller.
I also worry a bit about free agency because I think players are going to push for NMCs. We're going to likely have multiple expansion drafts in the next 2-3 years, so guys are going to want assurances they won't be exposed. I've never been a fan of handing out NMCs. - PhillySportsGuy
im all in on Keller too, would love this guy on our team. perfect strategy too, decide if you want him to play with G or replace G in a few years on the top line. I honestly think we can get away with him being a winger, cause if G drops in the lineup, we have coots and konecny. imagine a line of keller konecny and NAK in a few years. it would be the most productive line of sub 6 footers ever in NHL history. could call em the midget line. |

I can't even count the number of changes that need to be made to this (frank)ing bobo sports league - PhillySportsGuy
I'm not exactly sure what you do to fix it, but the whole presentation is so second rate.
Here's a small change: they seem to think putting soft pop rock music over these intense physical highlights will open up the demographics, how about a nice consistent tone that reinforces that you're watching sports? |

I think there will be a lot of guys like that, but I also think players with 3+ year deals are going to push for NMCs. It should be interesting though. More front offices have pushed for a more calculated approach. I guess we'll see. |

The entire NBCSN experience from pre game show to game to post game show is an utter disaster. It's almost like they don't want me to watch the games. |

So we should trade Schenn+ for a top 10 pick and take Clayton Keller? Did I read this right? - Mononoke
There should be no + if you're trading Schenn for 8-10 to take a guy like Keller or Brown. Unless the + is VDV.
If Schenn's agent is being unreasonable get a one year deal in arbitration. |

Per sources:
There is definitely some phone calls being made between NHL front offices right now. Or, perhaps there aren't. The only thing that can guaranteed is that there will be a flood of trades tonight containing high draft picks and some key players swapping teams, or we could see no trades of any significance tonight. If trades are made, expect the Flyers to be one of the players, or don't. e4 |
