That would mean Van is in a rebuild. - manvanfan

Demers I think is still the premier guy.
I agree that Dan will get a big number from someone else but I think he still wants to play in Van and would take a pretty big paycut to remain. - belcherbd
I agree, Hamhuis would take a big discount not to up root his family, he's a big family man. |

Why? He didn't make Montreal a playoff team. |

The Canucks have 14 million off the books next year and the same with the Sedins coming off the year after. Signing one big UFA will not cause any problems at all. |

I wonder if the Sedins re-up, what their contracts will look like? Playing for the money or the chance to win a cup? both? 5mil or 7mil? |

I am disappointed in people. I am waiting to see someone explain what JB needs to do to make sure that he can sign Stamkos, Lucic and Ericksson PLUS trade for PK (all while trading up to get a top 3 pick - or is that down???).
What will the new lineups look like?
Why is this enough to win the Cup, if and only if, they toast WD and bring in Green?

Not to mention religious, doesn't he has a specific church his family goes to? Religious people are fickle this way. If we could drop Sbisa and sign hammer to 2.5 that is worth it. What I wish they do would be to fire Lidster and hire Hammer. I know i am beating a dead horse here, but that sounds like a smart move to me. He would be a great defense coach for our team. |

Total goals last 3 regular seasons: Hartnell 71; Lucic 62
Total points last 3 regular seasons: Hartnell 161; Lucic 158
Hartnell has also played fewer games than Lucic.
I'm not saying Canucks should get Hartnell, but he could be a good value pick-up for some team. He's not just a cap dump. |

Tomlinson was asked what the asking price is and he said it's too much for Canucks at the moment and refered to a trade proposal that he thinks the Canucks may have turned down...
To Mtl
Tanev
5OA
Hansen
To Van
PK Subban
9OA
If they also took Higgins off our hands, I would be ok with that trade. Wouldn't love it as I want to see if Tanev adds some offense this season. But PK makes us better. |

I think we would still have to add, and not a salary dump or MTL keeps their 9th pick... |

It would be a travesty if we had to endure watching Lucic or PK play for this team. That said, anyone wonder if JB would sign Lucic and Eriksson both for big money then just leave Lucic open to expansion? |

Canucks have ~21 off the books next year with Burrows,Higgins, Miller, Horvat, Hutton, Tryamkin, Gudbranson ,Virtanen and Markstrom.
My guess Gubranson gets 5, Horvat and Hutton gets a bridge of 3, Markstrom gets 4, Tryamkin and Virtanen 2.5.
That equals 20 million. Maybe I am off on my contracts a bit but I don't think there is room for another 6+ million dollar player.

the more this is hashed out, the less desirable these moves/signings become...
guessing there would be a ntc clause attached to a big ufa signing and the talk with PK is said to be because his ntc hasn't kicked in yet and I think ntc players have to be protected... |

All I want is one of Eriksson, Boedker, Okposo + someone who can play 2nd/3rd line. If we sign Lucic or trade for Subban I probably won't be as inclined to watch games this season because I'll be so ashamed of the team |

This makes more sense than Lucic as we could probably pick up something extra from Columbus for giving them cap space, rather than being saddled with Lucic in 2022/23. |

the possibilities are endless with the draft, trades and ufa's available...
how many ways can JB feck this up? the doom and gloom is on the horizon and we are months away from puck drop.
JB is on 1040 now. |

No doubt Lucic is polarizing, but the bigger travesty is watching our star players get RUN every game, over and over and over.. While no one stands up for them. If you get a chance to sign Bertuzzi 2.0, I say go for it.. As for PK I can't begin to describe the intangibles this guy would bring to this team. |

I'd settle for a Perron or other 2nd/3rd tier ufa winger. worst case scenario is Hansen is back with the Sedins and we don't break the bank but keep some cap space and maybe take advantage of a cap team.
I can't see Lucic with the Sedins, beyond on the pp, that would be a slow line if he was with them.
The Hartnell/Lucic comparison is interesting. |

It was a typo. 14 million ish for guys probably not coming back.
I think some of those costs are a bit inflated but you could be right.
Miller, Higgins and Burrows gone = 13 mil
Horvat, Hutton, Tryamkin, Gudbranson, and Markstrom will be around 10-11 million additional cap space after this year which fits without a UFA signing which is why I think someone moves.
Gaunce and Etem aren't included in that either. I still think we see a trade tomorrow and then more moment at TDL.

That Hedman article, a while back, in the Player's Tribune kind of indicates to me the Sedins will only play for the Canucks if they stay in the NHL and not just chase the cup and go to another club.
I could see them back if we get some more scoring in the lineup. |
