This isn't the best of rumor sites. In addition to Hossa they mention Hjalmarsson as well.
So far the rumor mill has the Hawks discussing trades on:
- Kruger
- Shaw
- Kane
- Crawford
- Anisimov
- Seabrook
- Hossa
- Hjalmarsson
- Bickell (was traded)
- Teravainen (was traded)

My source on it is employed by one of the two teams involved in a hockey role, FWIW. - John Jaeckel
Honestly JJ I'm glad you report everything you hear, but people beating you up about it is laughable, I've had a good laugh about Malkin but not at your expense, at realities expense, keep up the good work and the criticism you receive its really just a compliment to you and your great work.
Keep it up I appreciate it and hope the back and whatever else ails you subsides |

with no salary retained!
I believe the bolded John had were the potential names the Hawks and other teams are speaking about. |

You're not guaranteed that Hossa finishes out his deal even in Chicago, but you completely lose what limited control you had if you ship him out.
Again, maybe there's something behind the scenes that would allow for this that we don't know about but. I'm skeptical.
Also, no way in hell Hammer is getting traded. If Hammer goes then the FO has officially lost their damn mind - dstainer
On hammer.....completely agree. One could argue he's their best d man. Even over #2.
Agreed on leverage but if Hossa went somewhere he wanted to, he might be inclined. Just stating it's not 100% impossible. Recapture will hit if he retires now or on another team.
I just can't wait for the Arizona Coyote Chris Pronger jersey retirement night OR heritage night......Can you imagine if the Hawks traded for that deal and put him on IR? McDonough would have a heritage night. I miss those things........ |

Luongo also carries the same recapture penalty and he was dealt out of Vancouver. As long as the player finishes the contract the Hawks would be fine.
Ottawa makes snense....again, Hossa gets 1 million for 4 straight years starting in 2017-18 but still carries a 5+ cap hit. A perfect deal for a team trying to reach cap floor OR a team on an internal budget in regards to salaries.
Again, Hossa would have to consent and Hawks would have to be 100% sure Hossa finishes out his deal - SteveRain
Question.
Isn't there a half dozen teams looking to get to the cap floor?
If Hossa goes to one of those teams he gives them the cap hit they need without actually having to pay him as much. Isn't that valuable to them, especially if they get a guy with his pedigree who can still play a serviceable 2RW and can teach the young-ins?
That is if he agrees not to retire? Besides, just because the Hawks hold on to him doesn't mean they can force him not to retire. |

he also has to waive his NTC to get moved, and somehow i'm doubting he waives it for a team trying to reach to the cap floor. |

Really, I just laugh, some of this stuff is funny, you got Keith and Nik for the friendliest contracts in the league, never going to happen unless their play falls off a cliff, I mean come on Yandle 6.3 per |

100% agreed. They can't so anyone saying he's off the table it makes no sense. he can still retire today and royally screw them. I don't think he would but for the sake of that argument as to why he can't be dealt, it's mute.
Believe this year his salary is 4 million then drops to 1 million for 4 years. he's a great cap hit vs low salaried guy. Now would Wirtz be OK with that after paying him HIGH dollars with a high cap hit or does he want to reap those salaries now?
I just don't think anyone can say Hawks would NOT trade him. |

Thing is I am QUITE sure Gms are asking about 2 and 4, but unless you want to blow it up and go full rebuild those two are UNtouchable...they are in the Toews/Kane level of value, and maybe even more valuable in some ways given their cap hits |

Anyone see that nice Tanner blog!!!!
McDavid is the best player in the NHL and should have won the Calder. - bhawks2241
Tanner is a (frank)ing idiot. No one is going to win any season-long based trophy playing just over half a season. Now, a full season, with his talent? That is different. What makes Tanner such a clown is he will conditionalize anything to reinforce a flawed narrative. I will no longer click on any article of his. Total lame ass. |

Amen. That clown is so obvious in his lack of objectivity toward the Hawks. He managed to take pot shots and Parain and Seabrook...simply because ONE guy voted for Seabs in the Norris....who GaF Tanner? I've seen this clown bash Keith, Kane and even goes out of his way to explain how toews isn't all that either. No one is immune.
When someone has such an obvious agenda nothing they say should be taken seriously. I'll never click another of his blogs again. That one was the last one for me. (frank) that bozo. |

There is little chance he will finish out that deal IMO. I think trade him or keep him, Hossa is probably gonna hang them up after this year or the next. 1 mil per year isn't much to keep a player with nothing left to prove playing through repeated injuries. |
