Yup, there wasn't much at tdl. With all 7 Canadian teams in rebuild mode there will be pressure on them to do something. Gudbranson was a good start for us but last year showed exactly what our team is. This is Gillis' model of never developing coming to fruition. - I-own_da-Northwest
In a fantasy draft i made trades to make this out team.
Sedin(7)-Sedin(7)-Okposo(5.5) = 19.5
Baerschi(1.85)-Stepan(6.5)-Sutter(4.375) = 12.725
Etem(950k)-Bo(894k)-Zibanejad(2.625) = 4.469
Burrows(4.5)-Granlund(900k)-Dorsett(2.65) = 8.05
Gaunce(863k)
Sbisa(3.6)-Tanev(4.45) = 8.05
Hutton(896k)-Gudbranson(3.5) = 4.396
Tryamkin(925k)-Larsen(2) = 2.925
Pedan(850k) Biega(750k)
Miller(6)
Markstrom(1.55)
Defense is no better than last year( i don't see it worse) btu our forward group, esp top 9 is much much better. Also had added Chabot to our prospect pool, only pick i gave up was this years 3rd(was used with Hansen and Higgins(dump) to get Stepan)
Edler + Rodin for Zibanejad +Chabot, gave RFA rightys to Vey and 154 for Okposo rights(was argued may be higher cap hit that 5.5) |

Try again the escrow will be at least 18%. Every year the escrow has gone up which is one of the reasons why it took so long to figure out the cap because the NHLPA had to agree to the cap which then determines the escrow. |

So it will be 18% on top of 69.5? 69.5 is the cap, NHLPA was voting on whether or not to add 5%(escrow) to it. This is how I understood it from reading up on it. No escrow means it would go down to 69.5, which would screw over a lot of teams. |

I thought the trades were good value to the Canucks. Still working on replacing Sbisa, but our top 9 is infinitely better than last years, and it all fits under cap. |

The Flames need a No1 goalie badly and will probably have to overpay for it…such is life dude. The Flames need a true #1 more than they need Malkin. Spinning through backup goalie after backup goalie after backup goalie post-Kiprusoff makes little sense as well. - LordHumungous
I think they end up getting Howard for cheap and MAF starts the season with the pens.
Lots of goalies out there and few buyers. |

I'd like to see Rodin play before trading him.
Those moves are pretty farfetched. |

Usually one maybe two trades happen a year for a team. You have a lot happening there.

Good value for the Canucks but pretty bad for NY and Ott.
Since it's still Tuesday...
Sedin Sedin Eriksson (6x4)
Baertchi Horvat Hansen
puljujärvi Sutter Hartnell
Virtanen Granlund Rodin
Etem
Edler Tanev
Hutton Gudbranson
Tyutin Tryamkin
Biega Larsen
3rd overall, Tyutin, Hartnell and 2016 2nd
For
5th, Sbisa, Dorsett and clb 2nd
Clb gets a bit over 3 in cap and we stay competitive while upgrading some picks.
Buyout Burrows and Higgins and cap works. |

I know you do. The best part is the NYR deal was done with a NYR fan and the Ottawa deal was done as a collective to reach a fair deal for Edler. |

i like that top 9!
But i agree that the trades seem quite skewed in Van's favor.
I'd pencil Hamhuis in if Edler is traded (lose Burrows salary somehow) |

Traded no prospects, draft Tkachuk and added Chabot on defense. Only future I gave up was this years 3rd in the Stepan deal. |

I think that could work. The part I don't like is the term remaining on those contracts though. Is it worth it? I don't think taking on those contracts justifies the pick swapping. Maybe one or the other but not both.

Hammers rights were essentially traded for Okposo's rights. Have been working on a deal that sends one of Fowler/Brodin to Van, though Wild are trying to send Scandella. |

I can't find the original link which said it was 16% last season but basically whatever the cap is each player has to pay into the "escrow" account or in other words when they get their paychecks they have deducted 16% until the end of the season when they reconcile the "hockey related revenue"
They did announce the cap to be $73.6 million which included the 5% escalator or else the cap was going to be the same. |

that would be a nice improvement of our top 4 D, but would likely cost one of our top prospects (Boesser/5th OA) |

Not sure either but I think there is a significant gap between 3 and 5.
I also think Hartnell is still a pretty decent player. |
