Sorry bud I can't agree with your assessment, Garrison was a solid defense-man when traded and would still be number 4 on this team...you're talking about the canucks defense one of the worst in the league..
You're allowing your hatred to cloud your judgement. - Makita
I think we're too bored to comment well here now, wait till Friday night
In fairness Garrison still plays top 3 minutes in Tampa as more a shutdown guy, surprisingly, yes, he just wasn't a fit with who we had here at the time and which pieces ended up leaving the club first.

Did they not say during the SCF that the cap will dip well below 70 mill unless the players use the escalator clause. I mean that's hat the TSN here in Ontario said - Bieksa#3
This is the last I read on the cap,
Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva · Jun 16
NHLPA will agree to exercise the escalator clause (5%) but wants to make sure everybody's on board before making it official.
Thought I heard it was going up 1-2 mil, but don't quote me. |

You're kidding right, TSN hating Leafs? They have a Leafs lunch and most of the time on the Overdrive show alll they talk about is Leafs and Bluejays. - allsports
So do winnipeg or Edmonton ( I forget which). They're all a bunch of Leafs hating muppets. Could've plucked anyone from Canada to replace them. |

Possibly. I ain't a fan of TSN and their Leafs hating ways. It will be funny, I'm sure you agree, to see the Leafs fall flat on their face with SS, Matthews, Nylander, Brown and Zaitsev - walshyleafsfan
I like the leafs rebuild. Change the culture. Big Member fan here. Hopefully he transitions well to the bigs(or as I hear regularly that size isn't a factor as he's simply unstoppable and apparently making McDavid numbers look sad. ) Like Brown as well. No very little about the Russian. But I think Nylander makes Yashin look like a leader and warrior. The guy has serious talent. But lazy as a house cat. Although as I've been informed by Clarkson he is probably the physically strongest player he has ever seen and he "has never lost a puck battle"
JCR is still young enough and a 30 goal man. Reilly looks luke a top pairing D man when he figures out there is also a defensive end(and he will) |

Problem is, my soccer team is the Leafs of soccer (if only). England 1966, Leafs 1967. What a time to have been alive. |

So the escalator caused the players to put into escrow 18% last season, so if the escalator clause kicks in I wonder what the players have to give up in escrow next season 20% or more?
The players have had to give more escrow each year so in reality the NHL hockey related revenue hasn't gone up the NHL just gets the NHLPA to agree to the escalator clause to get the cap to go up. Fricking southern based teams with hot dog revenue and the Canadian dollar now at a 30% discount is not helping the cap.

when we get together we bash our own teams, when another fan base has something negative to say it gets ugly quick. |

Benning thinks Shink is a bust so he traded him for something useful.
We got a solid top 4 young dman for McCann. Steep price but that's the market. I also think Shink will bust. If he turns out to be a star one day then Benning will look like an idiot. Let's circle back in 3-5 years - CanuckDon

The only problem is, it's gonna call fly on their face. Doing things "right" then the NHL moves on. We'll still be chasing someone. |

This I'm sure of. If Stamkos hits UFA, he will end up the highest paid player in the sport. Should he be?, God no. But how many times is there a guy as good as Stamkos and as young as him hit the market. I'm gonna say if he hits the open market he gets a 7yr deal over 80 mill. I'm positive the Garth Snow is gonna throw the craziest contract offer out there. |

I'm not sure the financial market will allow this to be honest, unless he shocks everyone by going to a place like Carolina. |

I think a number of teams will offer him something like that. He'll be able to cherry pick his team. Nice position to be in. |

Subban makes $9M per. Impact players are going to command that plus more. No way Subban should be the highest paid player in the NHL. |

If we take Hartnell's contract based on Carolina and Chicago's deal we should get the 3rd overall and swap our 5th and call it a day. Columbus screwed themselves by trading for Hartnell's contract and I don't know if it's fair trade for both but based on the needs of both I think that's a starting point but I wouldn't add much more to that from the Canucks side. |

Oops. Sorry. Behind the times. Subban was the highest but now has been passed...
1. Patrick Kane $10,500,000
2. Jonathan Toews $10,500,000
3. Alex Ovechkin...
4. Evgeni Malkin ...
5. P.K. Subban ...
6. Sidney Crosby ...
7. Corey Perry
Then $11M per is in the realm of possibility. |

Why Andersen played great in leading the Ducks to the conference final the year before and played pretty well this year too. 5 years takes him to only 31 in his prime years the contract is less than Miller's. |
