It's really much less than you make it out to be. You think this team has made great strides because they are young, however their best players are 35.

I'd make a huge bet that the Canucks don't make the playoffs, and then the twins are 36 years old instead of 35.

Also, Lefty suggested trading the twins.....not waiving them. We also managed to trade Bieksa.....instead of waiving him.

We'll they had the excess picks to take the gamble but it's still steep. I wonder what this means for Bernier? Overpaid backup?

I think they could be a decent 1/2 punch this season and they move Bernier at the TDL to whichever team has an injured goalie.

I think he ismore proven than Lehner, Jones and Talbot who all fetched similar returns I think?

Bernier is unprotected for the expansion draft. Has no trade value IMO

I really wish we had something more to talk about instead of picking people apart. This thread is getting pretty bad. Can't we stick to healthy debates and current sports related topics?

The sooner you come to terms with managements plan the easier it will be to exercise patience. A full rebuild is never going to happen while the Sedins are here. Aqulini would never sign up for 5 -7 years of being the Leafs or Oilers

I agree, let him earn it, although I doubt that is WD's way.

Miller will get the lion-share until he falters or is injured and then they will turn to Markstrom for more games. I don't really have a problem with that as I don't think either goalie is an improvement on each other and Miller has earned the leash.

It's not about blowing up the team. It's about hanging on to picks, moving away expiring contracts at the deadline if you're out of the playoffs and signing guys shorter term in the summer.

Benning traded away two former 1st round picks within months of each other before either had turned 21.....patience.
