I thought back then the team will be better when they move Garrison Bieksa Edler and Hamhuis. I still feel that way. - VANTEL

Leafs acquire Frederick Anderson for a 2016 1st and a 2017 2nd...steep price for an unproven goalie - CanuckDon
They're probably thinking it worked for SJ so it will work for them |

Yeah replacing Garrison with Sbisa & Bieksa with Bartkowski has worked wonders for the Canucks ability to win games. Now we add a Dman that isn't as good as either in Gubranson who was moved by Florida as they refused to meet his 5+ mil long term contract demands & will be a UFA in 2 years. The only thing Gubranson brings to the table is hits. He's essentially a Sbisa clone. This D as constructed will be brutal. Buckle up.
Vancouver will be 1 of the worst teams in the NHL again next season even if they bring in numerous UFA's; Eriksson, Luci what have you, buy out Higgins & Burrows. Why are we moving McCann & picks to acquire assets to try & win today? This team can't win as constructed & unless they start a proper rebuild in earnest won't for a very long time. It should have started 2 years ago properly. Not this dog's breakfast.
All these picks Benning has expended is ridiculous. SJ got more for Douglas Murray; 2 2nds in 2013 at the deadline trading him to Pittsburgh, than Vancouver got for Garrison or Bieksa. Toronto got more for Winnik for christ sakes. It's a joke.
Now they are going to lose Hamhuis another solid top 4 Dman for nothing as Aquailini had Benning delay & make unrealistic demands of Dallas. Desjardins sent Vrbata to purgatory just before the playoffs 2 years ago, never to return to the Sedins line, eliminating any value so we couldn't move that asset either.
I did what any fan should do when enough is enough. Put your money where you mouth is. The Canucks have offered me my tickets at almost a 30% discount, drink, parking & food vouchers. I declined as have most of the people I know. Of the 16 season ticket holders I speak to regularly, 3 have renewed, 2 took the sweeteners, 1 has a private box & his enticement was shocking not just in cost but services, the other 13 have walked just like me.
I'll still go to 12 to 15 games next season the vast majority for free as tickets are readily available & the building virtually empty many nights. Supply & demand. I couldn't give 9 of my games away last year both dates against SJ went unused in March not a single person I offered them to wanted them! 2nd year in a row that I actually lost money on my season tickets in a very long time. - striker777

We have always been on the same page regarding the need for massive changes. The team had a country club atmosphere and even Torts could see the issues. Changes were needed and fans were attached to the old players and were/ are resistant to change. Due to this attachement, some fans aren't realistic about the value of our players. It is what it is in the words of ex-Canuck Jared Mccan |

There are plenty of journeymen free agent back up goalies that can be signed to give Demko some time to develop in Utica. |

Do you really think we can get enough to make it worthwhile? Miller will be decent in a tandem with Marky and he clearly taught him some last year. |

Although I'm not opposed to trading Miller I'm reluctant to hand the starting job to Markstrom. I want him to take it from Miller |

He wants everyone in Management gone, Garrison back, Gudbranson gone, likes what SJ did in 2013 with Murray, has money, won't spend on Canucks, except for 12 - 15 times next year. |

I thought it was okay and I'm not sure I would call Anderson unproven at this point. He might not be an all-star goalie but definitely a starter IMO. At 26 he still has time to improve as well.
Good deal for both I think. |

Listen son . I usually ignore your posts because I think you are a pretentious snob that has to be telling someone that they are wrong. You are referring to a comment about Kelain Lain before Dorsett played here and the team was soft as butter. Any fighter would have been welcome.
The time I talked about moving Sedin was when he was not shooting and was an expensive second center on the top line. He went four games without a shot. This is almost two years ago.
Get over myself? You are hanging on to comments I said two years ago. You don't bring up the fact that Lefty said trade the Sedins 3 months ago. You bring up a comments I say two years ago
You have one serious infatuation with me. Seek help. |

Looks for sure they'll add some pieces for the pile of picks the Leafs have to help them convince Stamkos to come play for an okay team next season and a contender when the kids pick up their games and grow. |

We'll they had the excess picks to take the gamble but it's still steep. I wonder what this means for Bernier? Overpaid backup? |

Has money to burn. Has some rich friends. Hates Benning. Actually hates change and I have a feeling is secretly wishing we still had Lou and his cap friendly contract.

We were cap strapped at the time, so someone had to be moved. THAT's when Garrison was a buyout candidate. We got a 2nd for him.
Benning took a flyer on Vey, and it didn't work out.
It seems people are so defensive about Benning they won't admit he's made a mistake......ever. - golfingsince

Anderson move was a brilliant move. Ducks have 2 good young goalies and only 1 could have been protected with the draft. They got great value for him. Although now Calgary is in a pickle. What is the price for a good spare goalie now since Anderson (RFA) less then 200 GP went for a 1st and 2nd. Also Miller is not going anywhere. He has 1 more year left only. We don't need the cap space and Markstrom still needs a mentor. Specially now that Cloutier is the goalie coach. |

In a response to you saying you said something 2 years ago?
It's really much less than you make it out to be. You think this team has made great strides because they are young, however their best players are 35.
The prospect pool isn't deep, and we have hardly any picks.
I'd make a huge bet that the Canucks don't make the playoffs, and then the twins are 36 years old instead of 35.
Also, Lefty suggested trading the twins.....not waiving them. We also managed to trade Bieksa.....instead of waiving him. |
