Oops. A sideways deal that was.
No fan of Shink at all. - Nighthawk
I liked Shink, but don't mind the trade.
Gave us young depth down the middle even if Granlun only amounts to a 4th liner.
I think Shink could be a twenty goal scorer while GrAnlund will probable be a 10-15 guy. However ,Grandlun will be more likely to play 300 games in his career and will fill a void at the bottom of the depth chart for less money.
I guess what i'm saying is that I think the value is close and JB probably gave slightly more due to the Sven trade being in his favour. Even though I like Shink, I also like Grandlunm.
Now that we traded him, I (frank)ing hate Shunk!

My take on Andersen trade:
Lot of us called it I'm sure. I know I did, yesterday I believe. That Andersen is a good fit there.
I'm ok with the trade. I think the 2nd was probably "the sweetner" to get the deal done. Whether to outbid other team(s) or just to hurry the process along before others got involved. Sound familiar? Just like Gudbranson.
However, all the analytics guru's and (canuck haters other HB threads) trashed JB.
Well, leafs fans seem pretty happy with this move. Aren't D generally more valuable and expensive to acquire as compared to a G?
McCann (1st - 24th overall)
2nd
4th
for
Gudbranson
5th
Andersen
for
1st - 30th overall
2nd
So really only a difference of taking out 4th for 5th. Plus our 2nd was pretty good tho. Yet, JB's trade for a D was a joke. LL's trade for a G was awesome.
Too funny. - storm88
EG anyday over a 5m goalie who is yet to prove he can start 60-65 games every year.
Andersen is a big upgrade on the back up Bernier no doubt.
Too funny yes but jokes on u😂😂 |

Isn't Anserson really just a backup still though? 5X5 plus two picks don't seem a tad steep to you? Yes TO did need a goalie but... |

That was my opinion too . Not our problem time to move on , we have Canuck contracts to rip apart , never mind the Leafs. |

I'm pretty sure everyone who likes to rip VAN's trades would have to reach way back to find one that they actually won |

When I see all the comments on Twitter , in here, on TV and the radio about what teams are willing to give up for a Dman , we won our last trade for EG . Easily.

Three recent trades;
Gudbranson (hasn't played)
Sutter (very limited play)
Granlund (limited play)
Supposedly we got taken to the cleaners with these deals. I don't get the mentality. |

a pick, any pick, would be nice.
unless Sbisa or Edler are moved, he doesn't fit
why haven't they qualified Etem? sounds like the starting point or fall back point on negotiations. |

Leafs D is not that strong. It could be a busy year. Lots of holes to fill. |

I've reviewed two mock drafts that have Dubois going 3rd, Tkachuk going 4th, and the Canucks picking Puljujarvi with the 5th. Any substance to that? I'd rather have Dubois or Tkachuk. |

You would rather Dubois or Tkachuk ? I think Puljujarvi is the clear #3. If he somehow slips to us, we would be stupid not to take. |
