OK.
But he might not be willing to just flat out say he needs to trade it to pursue Stamkos.
They could move Howard to try and clear space too. - J35Bacher
Holland rarely makes a big splash in FA and values his picks/prospects more than most GMs, so I would assume he's being honest |

Not teams that arent suffocating cap wise.
Chicago traded TT because he didnt appear to fit on their team both on the ice and under the cap...got rid of a contract without a buyout...and got draft picks theyve been giving away for years. There are long term reasons why this makes sense
Detroit loses one of their best players and has to carry dead space for a year....trading a prospect to get rid of this makes sense how? Do they have a cup winning core? Do they have cap issues that require sacrifices to be made? - YuenglingJagr
I think they may regret trading TT
Pretty good talent, and the top teams that succeed need scoring from 3 lines.
They had to do it to move Bickell but it may bite them in the butt. |

No. They really didn't. They could've traded Panarin, they could've traded Crawford, buyout Bickell. He looked at everything and felt he was expendable. They tried fitting TT everywhere and the spot he had success in is occupied by Hossa. It is some wild concensus that he was going to be this fantastic center on a third line, but it hasn't happened yet and they have other options that have shown they work |

I personally would have traded Panarin. Brings back the most value, will cost the most out of them eventually. |

My fault I didn't even ask my question the way I wanted to haha. I meant flyers 2 2nds or just in general 2 picks, since the rumor you wrote said just two picks. |

For sure, especially after his incredible season along the side of Kane. Instant chemistry. Hard to break that up. |

Not sure if what title to use but I was listening to Pierre McGuire on TSN 1200 and he said there is a team out there that could be making a deal today to send out a significant player in return to get recoup some draft picks they have been dealing away the past few years trying to compete. He said it would be a team with 2nd rounders this year sending those the other way for the significant player.
@mirtle Hearing there will likely be at least one trade today. Some of the latest NHL rumours:
And a whole bunch of juicy nuggets:
Quote:
No team is talking more than the New York Rangers. Anxious to become competitive again right away after an embarrassing early exit from the playoffs, GM Jeff Gorton is looking at major changes.
The most intriguing name in conversations right now is centre Derek Stepan, who is signed for another five years at $6.5-million a season. There could be a fit with a team with cap space such as the Arizona Coyotes, which would free up money for the Rangers to enter the Stamkos sweepstakes on the weekend.
The Coyotes are another key player in the trade market. John Chayka, the franchise’s new 27-year-old GM, has been busy, and it’s clear to other teams that Arizona wants a quick turnaround after missing the playoffs four years in a row.
One asset they have to dangle is Martin Hanzal, who has one year left on a $3.1-million deal and won’t be cheap to re-sign. He may be moved in order to accommodate a big contract such as Stepan’s.
The Coyotes, who acquired the rights to Stars defenceman Alex Goligoski last week, are also the most likely destination for the now-retired Pavel Datsyuk’s contract via Detroit. But Chayka will want a prime asset in return for taking that burden.
Again, Stamkos is likely a factor, as the Red Wings – like the Rangers – could be one of several desperate bidders hoping that adding a superstar will allow them to become competitive right away.

I agree with Marc. I think there is a good chance they regret trading Teravainen. He could very well blossom in Carolina with more ice time. |

They had other options, decided to move Teravainen because right now they're deep enough to withstand his loss. But they sold low to get rid of Bickell's bad contract.
So kudos for moving a bad deal and recouping some picks, but don't sign the awful deal to begin with. |

FWIW: From Garths blog. Take with a grain of salt.
**
I'm nearing a ton of chatter involving the Edmonton Oilers trading their fourth overall pick. The #4 and Jordan Eberle have been linked to Buffalo who want to jump up from #8.
Philly selects 18th and they have been linked to the 4th pick and Eberle.
What would that costs? Have to be defensive prospect going to EDM. - J35Bacher
Would literally have to be Sanheim, 18th, Hagg and one or both of our 2nd rounders... intriguing, but if it costs that, which is probably what EDM would be smart to request, its most likely too much.
But, Oh my God if we could get Tkachuk |
