Good 2-way d-man, excellent possesion player and great on the powerplay.
Maybe not best d-partner for Rielly, but great with Zaitsev.
I'd prefer Leafs to move Gardiner+ for help on D (first pairing d-man to be on top pair with Rielly) over JVR. - MaximusAurelius

I remember back in 96, ol' Lums was in grade 9 and it was the England vs Netherlands game at Euro 1996... and we were to be stuck in religion class.
- lumlums
I was in London the weekend before Euro 96 started. It was a franking madhouse - even by London standards. As luck would have it, a buddy also happened to be there on business.
We made the incredibly stupid mistake of trying to get a drink in the Covent Garden area (he was staying near there). You couldn't even get near a pub, let alone go in and order a drink.
That night, standing on the tube platform, a woman passed out next to me. We were packed so close together she didn't fall down - she just sorta rested her head on my shoulders and passed out.
True story.
P.S. My brother in law (a Londoner) at the time was getting chemo for testicular cancer. He re-scheduled his chemo treatments around his England tickets. Yeah, huge respek for him! |

oh it wouldnt surprise me in the slightest.... i am more curious about what it will cost detroit to do so
they also got howard's contract to deal with as well - Dozzer
Holland has gone on record saying he wont' mortgage the future or give away current roster players just to dump a contract for one year.
Who knows though. The chunk of change really limits them from making UFS signings. |

Top lad! I hope that all worked out for him better than it did for England vs the Gerry's in that tournament!
As for the rest, that doesn't surprise me one bit. I was too young to be drinking beer (legally!) and am from a village of about 1000 people, but even then the two pubs in town were both absolutely rocking... |

He would be a good pick up...no idea what NJ has in mind.. are they rebuilding? trying to win now? .. or just looking to play more boring hockey and tread water? - senstroll
I would think a trade is possible, because Lou is familiar with the organization, JVR is from that neck of the woods and they also have a young goalie - Blackwood who would fit in - down the road. NJ in a tough market with Rangers, Islanders and Flyers all in the same area. Were purchased in 2013 - owners probably not thrilled with finishing out of the playoffs - so pressure is on Shero to make things happen.

Won't mortgage the future until playoff streak comes to a screeching halt and owner lights a bonfire under his ass.

Quit this crap - Stamkos - if (and that is a still a big if) he signs with the Leafs is recovering from a condition called Vascular Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Unlike traditional hereditary and systemic forms of blood clots, VTOS otherwise known as Effort Thrombosis is caused by strenuous athletic activity. Once pressure is relieved from area of contact, this condition is cured. Therefore neither recurrence nor insurance are issues. - winsix
But Laine is probably better than Matthews. |

The 2016-17 NHL regular season will be extremely busy. Doesn't start until Oct. 12 because of World Cup, plus every team gets a bye week.
edit: leafs start the season in Ottawa on the 12th! |
