Just read your guys blog, I see he's an Andersen fan as well. Never put together trying to pry away a Fowler as well. That would be a huge upgrade to get Andersen and Fowler in one deal. Seems like Fowler has been around 10 years and I'm shocked to see he's 24.
That is a deal that would jump the Babcock led, talent laden Leafs up the standings, if that's what they're interested in doing.
Damn, Fowler is 24. Most every team in the East has to make a run at this kid. - Mr Ricochet
Fowler plays big minutes there. I could see Carlyle continuing to use him a lot. Not sure he would be available.
Lindholm would be the guy I want. I think JVR + something good would be the cost.
Vatanen is probably the guy most likely to be on the move. I would think he’s pretty close in value to JVR.

Yep. Move 72 up to 1LW and coach Panik up to play 2LW.
72-19-81
14-15-88
Your top six
Desi, Kruger, Lundberg and ?,?,?,? for the rest of the cap (around $5MM)
D and G stay the same.
Moving any one of the core guys now makes absolutely no sense. |

If the d stays the same and this is our lineup, Hawks dont make the playoffs in my opinion. Instead of panik at #2 lw maybe the hawks can get umberger under a mil |

D adds Kempny and loses Rozi. Still an upgrade.
Blame the league. They took back half of what the union gave in accelerator. |

Exactly how I feel and what I have heard from someone close as to who would be most likely to be dealt. Also they could move one of the goalies. |

That's fair. Just for argument's sake, couldn't that same thing be said for Tuevo? I guess the high end puck skill and 1st round pedigree still hold more weight. I'd think Hartman would probably be the Hawks move movable/highest thought of prospect around the league (outside of Schmaltz)...maybe Pokka after a strong World Championship showing? - EnzoD
Enzo TT is at an entirely different level. He can dazzle scouts with his skill and played considerable minutes on one of the best teams in hockey.
Plus the buyers have a year to evaluate and currently the cap hit is only about 900k... He was the most valuable feasible trade chip Bowman had. |

IMO it makes even more sense now to move Crawford. Gotta create more roster depth, need the cap space. Sucks but it has to be done. Use it to get a decent cheap goalie to form a tandem with Darling, resign Shaw, and maybe one more depth defenseman/forward. |

And the Hawks get a 2nd and 3rd back. Now if TT played the way he did this last year for the Hawks this year and they tried to move him after the season would they get a 2nd and 3rd? - Mr Ricochet
Probably not because everyone would know the Hawks wanted out. |

What are people's thoughts on whether they keep KaneGB line intact? Putting Kane up with Toews would help Toews by giving him someone who can finish, and perhaps separating Kane and Panarin means Panarin doesn't crack top ten and make his bonuses again? - maria_wyeth
Panarin showed he's more dynamic when he's not playing with Kane but due to the production they had between them it makes it hard to split them up. However if Vesey decides on coming to Chicago (that's a big if) i'd line him up opposite of Kane and put Panarin at 1LW.

If the cap only goes up less than $2MM a year now, Panarins bonus alone puts them in the hole again. Seriously.....after you pay the second goalie what ever he needs, does adding Shaw really dramatically change the landscape? Other than adding another lng term contract to the books? |

I think it gives us a 3C and allows us play Kruger at 4C, also might give us a tiny bit more wiggle room to add another 3rd/4th line winger. Big difference. This might really be the only shot they have at another serious Cup run, so why worry about what you're gonna have to pay that goalie in the future? Trade him out for another cheap goalie/prospect next year if you have to. Its now or never when you think about Hossa and Keith and their ages. Gotta give this years team realistic playoff caliber depth up and down the lineup, or else the starting goalie(who was just outplayed by Elliot in the playoffs) won't even matter. |

So who is that cheap enough/non-sieve/non-injury plagued goalie who can split duty with our pending UFA goalie and his 43 game NHL resume, that will offer enough extra cap space to add the quality wing depth? To contend for a Cup no less. |

Thats drastic. Should be able to keep Shaw and add a bit more depth if they move Crawford. I don't see the point in moving both. Shaw is a perfect example of bottom 6 depth that they need. |

Not sure but its gotta be someone that makes significantly less than 6mil. Even if the difference only saves them 3.5-4mil that is still HUGE. |

I have a feeling Shaws agent wants 4 mil a year. He probably looks at Krugers 3 mil and says look all that Shaw brings. 4 mil per. |

Exactly. But even $3MM extra at this juncture with a coin filp evey night in net is no path to the Cup.
Maybe this is the medicine Q needs to convert from stewarding his bench to coaching and developing some players. |
