Both those picks aren't good choices as an example imo. Both players had concerns with their respective games which caused scouts to not draft them sooner. Also, I don't think anyone would have projected Ghost's success/impact. Which goes with what MJL said, how do you know x player's ceiling/potential/capabilities on a certain level when they are that young.

If we are adding caveats to picks then you can basically put that with every player not picked number one as there would be something to cause them to drop. There is always going to be something scouts don't like or don't think translates.

He asked about the odds of 2nd/3rd rounder turning into something. Well teams aren't built on just 1st rounder so it happens.

If Laughton were traded I'd much rather it'd be for a pick or to move up with a pick than to coerce someone into taking Umberger to avoid a buyout.

Not sure I would trade Laughton right now anyway. Our left side is just too damn weak.

I'm waiting for Hexy to work his magic: the Flyers trade Amac Umberger and a second to EDM for Yak.

If they took MacDonald they would have to be sending Ference back this way.

I don't know what the paycut will be, but man -- don't you have to try to upgrade that?

Wow. I will not lie: I totally did not see that coming

Im still not 100% ruling out an AMac trade. I mean he's still better than what a few teams are icing. But if it happens the return is not going to be pretty.

I am surprised they wouldn't try to at least get a guy like Reimer who is younger and probably could have some upside. Also might not be that expensive since he wants a chance to start somewhere.

Hypothetical, flyers eat half salary, would a mid round pick be out of the question?

Well after the Ducks brought Carlyle back, nothing will surprise me anymore.

It's more surprising because Ward was an UFA -- you lose nothing by letting him walk, and you were paying so much for him that you could get another guy in there, likely an upgrade, and still have money to burn

Can't wait for the exact moment when Getzlaf and Perry realize who is barking at them again and they just are like "yeah, no"

I would have to see the specific numbers but I think eating half is too much. I'd rather throw in a mid round pick and take a 7th and eat as little as possible.

Sure. Comparison I believe Grossman s cap hit was 3.5 million. AMac at that figure or lower has some value. Not great value, but I believe a market. He can still play the position just over paid.
