You think Laughton and TT are on par with each other?

Do you think it's a good idea to lose Laughton for peanuts (or at least lower value) to avoid an Umberger buyout?

Don't the Lightening also have that Latvian kid in the AHL that's good?

Maybe. Just listing combos where I think both are more attractive than Stolarz.

I don't think TT did much that made me think he was a top guy. Also with Parnarin coming in it pushed TT down I think.

Depends on what Hextall thinks of Laughton. If I was able to move Umberger with Laughton and get the same return Chicago got I wouldn't be against it. 3 2nd rounders and 3 3rd rounders is a lot of ammo for the draft.

A lot depends on what Laughton is.

Carolina just traded for Bickell and he is a worst skater than Umberger.
- J35Bacher

No they traded for Bickell and a good young player. I don't want to move any quality assets just to get rid of RJ, and no one is trading for him unless you do.

Still, is it worth lowering Laughton's value to avoid an Umberger buyout?

There will definitely be more NHL ready combos...but what Scoob was saying is picking a younger project/development goalie since they have to take 3. So we would be talking about guys like Campbell, Markstrom, Stolarz, Subban, Pickard, Demko, Forsberg, just to name a few (some of them might be exempt)

Dallas has their two goalies and also I think Campbell in the minors.

Yeah. when you look Stolarz is probably not a high option for the expansion team.

What is Laughtons value?

For me I would. Especially if I feel like guys like Leier, Cousins, Bardreau, Fazleev or Abel-Kubal are higher up on my list them Laughton.

I don't know what the exact right play is.

Campbell probably gets protected on that team

And as much as it would suck to lose Stolarz...the Flyers at least have goalie depth. This time last year it would have been devastating...this time next year he may not even be the top goalie prospect in the system

I would be totally against it. There's a very good chance that Tervainen winds up a very good player. Same with Laughton.

I don't know his value, I just know that packaging him with Umberger lowers it.

J35Bacher, why are you so adamantly against an Umberger buyout? I agree it's not the ideal plan, but it's the best option. Everything else involves losing additional assets or tying up large amounts of cap space. Or Umberger just deciding that he doesn't like large sums of money.

No thanks.

It's just a discussion.

I see merits of both sides. Sometimes I feel we overvalue guys on our team. I am not high on Laughton. So for me I don't see it a bad idea to attach him to Umberger to move him and get some picks back.

Yes I know Laughton could maybe develop more. But I don't think his ceiling is that high. I also think with the past few drafts, hextall has found guys that have a higher ceiling and will soon be replacing Laughton.

That's just me. You might not think it but I do respect others opinions.
