And how many goals did he score from there? - burn
Between the guy who scores too many meaningless points in Thursday night games and the guy who scores too much from in close we’re (frank)ed. |

I love how he pulls the puck in closer to his skates when he shoots....
D men will never have a clue if he plans to shoot or pass |

Even though that is an nhl move, he won't be able to pull it off in the nhl. |

Matthews scores only with wrister and snapshot. Practically never with onetimer or slapshot. Maybe no one even taught him that these kind of shot types exist? He also scores practically all his goals close to the goal. Either a quick wrister there, or he is prowling for rebounds. He doesn't even use his backhand practically ever for scoring. Didn't also see him score almost any breakaway goals by dekeing the goalie. Matthews is in fact going to run into some serious trouble with his goal scoring in the NHL, as his scoring is based completely on getting to the area's where he will now have to battle with much, much stronger, better and also even more agile defencemen. He will not get even half of the chances for scoring goals, as he did in NLA or in USNDP, while playing against just JUNIORS.
Laine on the other hand can score exactly with almost every possible way that you can do in hockey. He sure could get better in front of the goal, but on the other hand it is not so much even needed for him. He is going to be much more dangerous further away from goal. Then if he can play with a hard working garbage goal getter, and one talented playmaker, he will definitely be a much, much more dangerous goal scorer than Matthews. And this will most likely be very well possible for Laine in Winnipeg.
Unless Matthews really learns to shoot with much more variety and not be totally dependant of scoring so close to the goal, he will for sure have huge problems with his goal scoring.
But lets just wait and see... - daeth

I think it was Crawford, who coached him this past season, who said his shooting style reminded him of Sakic.
I'll (frank)ing be happier than a pig in poop if he's even half that |

"Reminds" is the key word here
And Crawford has now coached them both and while I'm not a huge Crawford fan, the man is a cup winning coach and frankly, does know hockey. |

Once again.... People focus too much on the player and not enough on a potential line.
Take a puck distributor like Marner and pair him with a big bodied C who can skate and goes to the net.... Jesus (frank)ing Christ that combo has the potential to be dominate in a couple years... Especially if the other winger is strong along the boards.
Watch out. That possibility is very real... |
