Matthews scores only with wrister and snapshot. Practically never with onetimer or slapshot. Maybe no one even taught him that these kind of shot types exist? He also scores practically all his goals close to the goal. Either a quick wrister there, or he is prowling for rebounds. He doesn't even use his backhand practically ever for scoring. Didn't also see him score almost any breakaway goals by dekeing the goalie. Matthews is in fact going to run into some serious trouble with his goal scoring in the NHL, as his scoring is based completely on getting to the area's where he will now have to battle with much, much stronger, better and also even more agile defencemen. He will not get even half of the chances for scoring goals, as he did in NLA or in USNDP, while playing against just JUNIORS.
Laine on the other hand can score exactly with almost every possible way that you can do in hockey. He sure could get better in front of the goal, but on the other hand it is not so much even needed for him. He is going to be much more dangerous further away from goal. Then if he can play with a hard working garbage goal getter, and one talented playmaker, he will definitely be a much, much more dangerous goal scorer than Matthews. And this will most likely be very well possible for Laine in Winnipeg.
Unless Matthews really learns to shoot with much more variety and not be totally dependant of scoring so close to the goal, he will for sure have huge problems with his goal scoring.

Where did you find this?
I would like to read whatever else this poster writes
Yes he is, Laine is so differen level than AM, AM has good shot close to goal and those green zone (where he won't get often in NHL), Laine is just amazing deadly second he gets o-zone. You can look Matthews U18 championships and U20 when they were same age (this time Laine was 4 months older then) and still now 7 months younger Laine have outscored AM. So you just to wait WCup and there is only NHL goalies or at least most. I bet he will score at least 5-7 goal to be one of the youngest in WCup history players al ready in. AM, if he was 3 days older he have picked earliest 3rd and yes he has amazing UNSDP, but in last year Eichel showed more (yes he was almost year older) in NCAA and WHC than what AM show year 2014-2015. AM shot is not just even a near to Laine's shot and all the shooting tool box what he have, Laine it's been and is best U18 shooter after... is there anyone? Also Laine would be easily before if he have this kind of year before drafted against AM UNSDP points. So then AM would drop earliest to 4th.

And that's how you lose any credibility you had with one post.
