True, but no way that October roles around and all of Bozak, Kadri and Laich are still on this roster. My preference is that Kadri and Laich are gone, Bozak and Goat are 3 and 4.....and with Kadri + some piece we get back a Trouba or Larsson (yes, I am dreaming) type.
Than again, if there is no SS signing, Kadri, Matthews, Bozak, Laich. If SS signs, probably Stamkos, Kadri, Maththews, Laich....
Man, there are so many variables, it's impossible to figure out what this team will look like come October. - Cooshie
If Stamkos signs here, Bozak must be gone.
I'm guessing that they can give him away - they won't ask for anything back.
If Stamkos goes to Buffalo, Bozak can stick around as our #3/faceoff guy. |

What point of making a comment if you're not going to bother comprehending what you're replying to.
You're made 2points that counter nothing no one said.
Nothing silly about wanting to keep better players. To keep a guy that hasn't even started his long term deal yet. - burn

Not sure why you are having such a hard time grasping this. |

Probably exactly what happens.
One thing that I would like to see is Goat play at 4C.....so what do you do with Laich? |

You're complicating a very simple observation that I made which was valid...
You said any trade that had Kadri going and Bozak staying was a failure.
This comment is silly, plain and simple. - Cooshie
Good players are better than bad ones. It's not that difficult. The leafs are weaker if bozak is in the lineup instead of kadri. If the leafs want to sign stamkos and try for the playoffs bozak as 3c and kadri not on the team is counter productive. |

Chrissy (when Jack asks Janet to call heads or tails from a coin toss): Why does she get to pick?
Jack: Chrissy, it doesn't matter.
Chrissy: Yes it does, she gets two choices and I don't get any.
Jack: All these years it always seemed so fair... - LeafMan

Or you put Kadri on wing.
It's funny - the Leafs have way too many forwards.

I think they keep Laich for the year - apparently he's a "good veteran presence."
I'm really hoping the Goat makes it, but I just don't see him on the Leafs next year. |

Same can be said of you I suppose.
Kadri is mile better than bozak. Removing kadri from the lineup and putting bozak in that spot creates such a huge black hole that nothin you get back for kadri can counter it.
Your whole premise is based of bozak being equal to kadri and being able to replace him. He isn't and he can't. The difference from having bozak in and whatever you get for kadri isn't greater than having kAdri and not bozak. |

Bozak could never draw penalties like Kadri. I don't hate Bozak, I just think he becomes expendable if the Leafs sign Stamkos and draft Matthews. And if given the choice between Kadri and Bozak, of course you keep Kadri. That's a no brainer. That new contract is aces.

They are not GIVING AWAY Bozak. I know some of you guys think Bozak is garbage because he's not Wayne Gretzky but Bozak is a very valuable player on a bargain of a contract.
He's a quality 2nd line center that can play in all scenarios and is great at faceoffs. His PPG production makes him a consistent 50+ point player if he would ever be healthy over 82 games.
I'd like to see him traded at the deadline for a late 1st and a B prospect. |

Goat's not ready. He couldn't even crack the Marlies lineup throughout most of the playoffs. He needs at least another season in the minors.
Also has everybody forgotten about Froese? He was injured to end the season but did a solid job as a 4th line center. |

You really are out to lunch!!!
My whole premise is that I think Bozak would be fine as a number 3C. That has nothing to do with Kadri and Bozak being equal. Of course Kadri is miles ahead of Bozak.
But, keep going, it's quite entertaining to watch you basically have a conversation with yourself (as you really are not including anything that I have relayed).

Everything you write is 100% true.
Problem is that Burn is not talking to the conversation we were having when I said it is silly to say that if you trade Kadri while keeping Bozak, it's a failure.
There are many factors that go into that trade being a failure or not. Like, is Kadri your number 1 center (do they sign SS) or number 3C (do they play Matthews ahead). If he is your number 3C and you can trade Kadri (maybe add a piece) for someone like Larsson, well, does that make sense for the Leafs roll with Stamkos, Matthews and Bozak as your top 3C with Rielly and Larsson as your top pairing D?
The point is, unless you know what the return is for Kadri, it's silly to say trading kadri and keeping bozak is a failure.
Leafs could never get back close to to the same return for Bozak. |

Bozak can't play 3c.
You don't keep inferior players that are a black hole.
It's all moot anyways as they aren't trading the dude that hasn't Started a new 6 yr deal yet.

Does Bozak suck? No.
Is he a quality 2nd line centre that can play in all scenarios? Nope.
Put him on a good team, and he's not in top two lines.
To quote The Law, he's your Ikea coffee table.
But more importantly, the Leafs have absolutely no leverage. If Stamkos is here, 29 other teams know they have to shed Bozak.
If you think you can get a 1st round pick for Bozak, you've obviously been partaking before the federal government introduces legislation. |

Without debating if the trade is fair or not and what more the Leafs would have to give - would you trade Kadri for Larsson? |
