I have no doubt Laine will be a dynamic player.
In fact, it's a real possibility he will outscore Matthews and win the Calder next year, if he plays with some high-end linemates in Winnipeg.
That said, the Leafs need an elite, complete center far more than they need an elite goal scorer. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Matthews playing with muckers and grinders his first season., Komarov and Brown or some such thing
It'll be the world championships all over again. Laine playing with talented linemates like Barkov and Jokinen, while Matthews plays with Maroon and a revolving door of scrubs
They are apples and oranges, and Leafs just happen to need the apple |

Yeah I have too many hobbies... two nerdy ones. Recently I had a date and I had to ease into which one to tell her about first...only one though! Two might scare them haha |

You think they will play all 3 on the same line? I have my doubts.
Maybe Matthews and Nylander (although I think Willie plays with Kadri). If Stammer is here, I see Marner on his wing |

Not a chance. That would be terrible. All 3 of those guys want/need the puck, having two on a line may not even work (i.e. a Nylander gets moved or we roll four lines). |

If SS signs here, Kadri goes to 3C....no way they start Matthews at 3C. |

Yeah, it'll be Stamkos, Matthews, Kadri, with Kadri getting as many tough matchups as Stamkos, Matthews facing weaker competition to start. |

The official "2nd" and "3rd" lines will become blurred. IMO, the line that faces weaker competition is the 3rd line.
Potato Potahto.
Regardless, I think Mitch plays with SS, Willie with Kadri on another line and Matthews with some grinders on a 3rd line.
We'll see how it really shakes out, but thats my guess |

Sosh-Kadri-Willie
Komarov-Matthews-Brown (or Lupul if he's healthy )
That's my prediction anyway |

This is actually kind of funny. I live in a small village in Eastern Ontario and for years I have taken a serious bruising for being one of the few remaining Leaf fans in a very strong Sens environment. Most people love to chirp me over the Leafs struggles. They enjoy it too much for me to ruin their fun. So, the opposite seems to happen here and I am fine with it. But, I do ask that you remember that I really enjoy the hockey side of the discussion. I have always said Leaf fans deserve much better management than they have been given. Now that they are finally getting the leadership they deserve I really do enjoy the positive vibes coming from the fan base. - spatso

Think Percy would go the other way, as he probably has more value than FC.
but Rielly-Barrie would be sweet.

I was lowballing
It would be sweet if the Leafs could get him somehow. Gotta give to get though. What did Hamilton cost CGY to acquire? It would likely be around the same price
EDIT: 15, 45, 52 overall picks
We could do 30 and 31, and Percy maybe |

It's what they shoulda done with Kessel.
Can you imagine how good that guy would be if he only cared?
Hell, he could probably be in a conversation for the Conn Smythe Trophy. |
