Brennan is a slow player in the AHL.

Europe is probably a good place for him. Yotes need to spend their money a little more wisely than that.

America is only stupid for calling "hockey" "ice hockey". Hockey is hockey. There are other types of hockey and they deserve to be called "field hockey" or "ball hockey" or "roller hockey" or whatever.

But hockey played on ice is HOCKEY! You don't have to label it "Ice Hockey". By definition, hockey is played on ice.

They say the same thing about Canadians calling Catcher "Back Catcher" Plus, why do people say "Tuna fish".......basically who cares? Haha

Oh so your review of him for 18 games trumps actually seeing him play 192 games for the Avs over the last 3 years. Right that small sample size really defines he is as a player.

Gotcha, good work Jimmy

I just think you're biased since your review goes against the stats and what I saw. he's a good player, I'd be happy if they resign him.

He's too slow for the ahl.

Looked very out of place in a few games for the leafs.

He's not an nhl player.

Regarding Shea Weber....on what (frank)in planet is 20 goals 31 assists 51 points a dramatic drop off for a dman

Sometimes, no check that, most times, you numbers boys can't see the forest for the trees.

What was his zone starts?
Who was his defensive partner?
What was his quality of competition?

- LeftCoaster

Shea Weber is a very, very good second pairing defenseman in the NHL in 2016. He is probably a very very good first pairing guy even, but he isn't he player he once was/. Unfortunately he cannot defend very well anymore, but he sure puts up a lot of points.

Sure there is. This is a guy who's actually performed well whenever he's been in the NHL. I say give him a shot.

The Coyotes have Connor Murphy as OEL's partner. TJ Brennan should at least get a look. It's not like you can't do worse.

ok.

still doesn't remove the potential for reward though. who's to say he doesn't come in play on the bottom pair and give them steady play on a cheap deal? I am not saying he is any world beater by any means. just that signing him isn't any real risk at all.

Worst case scenario, you just trade Brennan for Nick Leddy and he ends up back in the Leafs organization 6mo later anyway.

I have lived in the USA for 20 years now, and played for about 15 of those, and have never heard it referred to as "ice hockey" unless someone asked for clarification.

enough of brennan.

he takes PP away from younger players and is a waste of roster spot.

switzerland seems like a nice play hockey. he should try that.

low risk / low (or even no) reward.

The type of move mtl specializes in. gets you nowhere.

And this all becomes moot anyways. Bergevin will sign brennan.

Jokes aside, they did get Ville Pokka in that deal who has had a really solid AHL career so far. He could be a good middle-pairing defenseman.

Brennan and Nilsson were just throw-in's.

Erik Karlsson scored like 30 more points than Weber - on a way worse team - and he also plays underrated defense and almost always has the puck / controls the play when he's on the ice.

Erik Karlsson just had a year where he was probably closer to Bobby Orr's best year than Shea Webers. Not to say he was close to being Bobby Orr, he's just way better than Shea Weber. Also, scoring 82 points in today's NHL probably isn't that far off what Orr scored in his time, if you think about it.

That's fair, but if they traded Seabrook and kept Leddy they'd have a better team today.

Schultz was always gonna be better when sheltered and given softer minutes . No one said he doesn't have solid offensive instincts. But the rest of his game lacks

I haven't looked at all the numbers but I'm certain he's playing less than 15 a night and getting tons of pp time and plum assignments

In the first few rounds he had some nights where he played 11 and 12 mins.

I'm not suggested you were directly comparing the two, but Schultz And weber aren't in the same stratosphere
