It makes them tougher and bigger, harder to play against.

and wasn't that what people wanted?

Wow haters are going to hate. Know I'm far from alone in loving this trade. McCann was expendable given our depth up the middle and is at best a 2c, 2nd pick would have been a d-man and we still have a very high 3rd. JB is my hero! We actually have a top4 now. I did a couple jump kicks when I saw this, so stoked.
- neem55

I don't see how having Sedin, Horvat, and Sutter constitutes depth in any sense of the word. One injury and that C corps is sunk. Minimal long-term offensive potential. Is this banking on Dubois getting past Edmonton or any other team that acquires that pick?

Does Gudbanson in and Hamhuis out make the D better next season? It makes them bigger and younger and tougher, but I'm no sure it makes them better.
- CubanBuffet

Not next season, but moving forward yes IMO.

Pretty much the same argument for McCann playing last season.

The funny thing is I said last year a proposal of Hansen MCCann and a second and got roasted by quite a few saying it was not enough. Now it's too much.
- VANTEL

Benning needs to trade Hansen before the draft. We are (frank)ed if he doesn't. Need draft picks bad!

It's more banking on sucking eventually again and acquiring a legit #1C.

You're right an acquired pick is an acquired pick.

Too bad he had absolutely NOTHING to do with it.

You will probably enjoy this years team if they stay healthy.

That I can agree with. 29 other teams loved playing Vancouver last season.

Maybe you should join Phucker. Flyers have a decent team.

Manvanfan is a tool, don't rate your time. Faceoffs are more important than scoring and the Sedins are sisters. He has been on a roll for awhile

I like this trade. I think what everyone keeps overlooking is that JB may not see potential in those picks that outweighs what Gudbranson could be in 4 years. 3-5 years is the plan from here while maintaining a competitive atmosphere.

I agree something else is coming too.

You know the guy with the beard that would take 300 shots a year and 7 would end up hitting the net?

Benning's given up a few really offensively talented players for guys who provide zero to nothing for offence. He's hitched his ride to Henrik, Sutter and Horvat down the middle, which I'd say is a mistake...Sutter is not a number two center. He's a good player, but as a center he doesn't make his linemates better, he's good on the PK but I'd say Horvat is already more offensively talented than him.

I guess I'll wait until summers over before I start moaning...I'm still disappointed in his continual overpayment for players though.

- LeftCoaster

Why until summers over, why not wait until you can make an objective opinion (next season) instead of an emotional one when summers over?

Switch out Okposo for Brouwer and I wouldn't mind seeing Benning sign Matt Martin

I wonder if Gudbranson and Hutton every played against each other early in life, they are a year apart in age and grew up 115km from each other.

Finally at the end of page 27, and I'm not surprised by the polar opposite views of another Benning trade.

Extremes on both sides, with a few objective thoughts down the middle, pretty much status quo in canuck land
