We already have a young team. We have this years pick , plus Demko and Boeser. How many prospects do we need. We need to develop them and build a competitive team at the same time.

Since when are these guys sure things?

They now have Pedan, Gudbranson, Sbisa , Tryamkin, Larsen , Tanev, Hutton & Edler....last year Bennng said "I really like our defence when they're healthy" they proved to be one of the worst defences in the league.

The summers not over but I'm already disappointed in its beginning.

He did Gudbrandson

I guess he's banking on Dubois then.

I dont agree with that. Toronto finally got it right over the last two years after 10 years of (frank) ups. I see the Canucks as the Leafs of old, trying to make the playoffs but we will never be good enough. The way I see it this team will be finishing with a 10-14th draft pick for the next while. So instead of Mathews, Marner and Laine we will be getting a Horvat or Virtanen.

We need lots of prospects as Demko and Boeser are good. But other than Hutton and Horvat im not sold on any other player under 25 in the system. Im really hoping we land Dubois in the draft.

- mauryballstein

They finally got it right? Nylanders coach in the playoffs called him lazy. How many NHL goals do Marner Nylander and Mathews have?

Let's see them play a full year before we say they have it right.

Logan Stanley would be around there.

Pretty much the exact same size as Gubranson

- classic321

You know who also is that size? Jared Cowen and he (frank)in sucks.....G is more than just size my friend....

I was hoping Benning had something up his sleeve, apparently not.
- Scooby_Doo

If theres one thing everyone agrees on its Benning is a solid scout, if he traded away the 33rd pick there must have not been someone he was to hot on their or he would of tried to use a different years second.

If he blossoms into a true #2 Dman which I expect then he's well worth a 24th and 33rd selection.

My concerns with the deal are I was really high on McCann, and have been since he was drafted. I think he's a surefire #2C.

Thing is, you take that #2D over the 2C any day.

It doesn't change the fact we still need to find a #1 D, but our top 4 looks decent and young, and our D depth just got much better.

- golfingsince

Ya Im hoping hes just a solid top 4 but just hope he can put up some more offense. This trade is not the worst, im more concerned about what its going to take to sign him. Im hoping we can get him signed to a 5 year deal and he starts to develop like tanev did.

I like Gudbranson. But wtf is benning doing giving up more draft picks? The guy just can't trade, he loses them all. It's (frank)ing frustrating that he's allowed to trade all our picks.
- Scooby_Doo

It's getting old. i have no problem with McCann for Gudbanson, but the 33rd is a hell of a sweetner.

Just like the 2nd the last 2 years?

He knows there is lots of value in a 2nd I'm sure had many players he liked there.

This is about how he feels about Gudbranson, or how he felt about Vey, Sven, etc.

Sven scored 15 goals this year good start. He out scored the guy he replaced Higgins.

Gillis traded seconds and Firsts for Roy, Keith Carney , Booth.

I like the trade...At 1st I wondered if it was a slight bit rich but when you look what hamilton trade took and a few others you realize JB did rather well. And for a guy that led in playoff minutes too.

Benning's given up a few really offensively talented players for guys who provide zero to nothing for offence. He's hitched his ride to Henrik, Sutter and Horvat down the middle, which I'd say is a mistake...Sutter is not a number two center. He's a good player, but as a center he doesn't make his linemates better, he's good on the PK but I'd say Horvat is already more offensively talented than him.

I guess I'll wait until summers over before I start moaning...I'm still disappointed in his continual overpayment for players though.

Let the Emo's have their day man. They all want their cake and eat it too.

This is the kind of deal that addresses needs and helps the youth movement. (frank) draft picks. They are basically a crapshoot outside of top 10 anyway...

I'm trying to look at this trade objectively, and not lumping it in with other trades. I don't mind the Sutter trade, don't like his contract. I don't like the Granlund trade, although I guess now that McCann has been dealt at least he has more value.

I always pegged Sutter as a 3C.

This trade however, if Gudbranson continues to develop and unless McCann becomes a star doesn't bother me in the slightest. My biggest concern is that he leaves UFA or we sign him to an awful extension.

If I am JB now I do what I can do deal Sbisa, as between Gudbranson and Tryamkin he is irrelevant. I think also resign Hamhuis if I can get him for cheap, have him with larsen on the last pairing. The Defense would be leaps and bounds better than last season.

Yeah me to, alot better then 16th overall who turned out to be Baral and a second for Griffin Reinhart. Gotta give to get, happens in all top 4 Dman trades

Ya its a way better deal than that one. I wonder if reinhart will ever be a regular.
