Man you are in desperate need of some clarity if you think that trade was a win.

1) you got the worse player by just about every statistical measure
2) you got a worse salary
3) you got a worse draft pick
4) Sutter only played 20 games for you
5) Bonino has been an integral part to the Pens playoff success
6) Sutter's linemates are consistently better without him than with him whereas the opposite is true for Bonino. But I guess that is too much of a fancy stat to be worth anything...

Kassian, Clendening, Jensen... Gimme a break. A bunch of AHLers, a couple B level prospects and a handful of draft picks which have a 0.5% chance of becoming NHLers for a potential top line centre in Sutter, a top pairing d-man and solid NHL depth players. All while being able to draft some great prospects including a franchise goalie. Future is bright out here on the west coast in the best city in the world.

The (frank) just happened? I don't really care about the trade, and haven't said much other than reminded people that we were told McCann was better than any Leaf prospect we could name. (Quality banter by the way.) But in what universe is Brandon Sutter a 1C? Gudbranson maybe, I guess we'll see. Doubt it though.

I like McCann and will miss him. But trading with Florida again makes the world good.

Hes not going to provide any offense, wont help the forwards with their productivity, he is not bad at hitting and keeping forwards out infront of the net but thats hardly top line material.
Mccan must have asked for a trade i just cant wrap my head around trading a 20 year old nhl rookie.

- Wissler

McCann had a rough rookie season, and I really like the kid. Gudbranson has a hard shot, which he never got much chance to use.

He will help the PK immensely, and our D as a whole. I think he could become a solid #2 Dman in the future.

A lot of people are saying Mccann is a cancer in the locker room. Terrible attitude, entitled, etc. Was never in the Canucks plans. Should be out of the NHL within 3 years.
- hankthetank

Who said that? I think he'll be a good player once he gets stronger. Not sure what Canucks have in Gudbranson, but will wait and see.

Who is "a lot of people"?

Twitter is blowing up with a lot of insiders and people close to the situation saying Mccann was a total a-hole. He has that kind of a-hole face. I'm glad Benning was about to flip him for a top pairing d-man.

Don't know anything about that but I do know we needed a big strong tough guy to clear the front of the net.

Bonino is carrying Crosby and Malkin. That much I admit. Penguins probably would have been in the Matthews/Laine sweepstakes if not for Bonino.

Take off the blinders and feel free to read the above post if you think that deal was a win for Van.

Where is your list of Bonino-type third liners that are carried deep into the playoffs by actual top 6 players? Not much to say genius? And Bonino didn't even have 20 pts until March...

Just means we get to spend more time arguing who won the David Booth for that German guy trade or Luongo for Markstrom or Bure for Jovo and McCann for Gudbranson.

Are we forgetting that when Bonino played for the Canucks, he lit the lamp at will and was the best player on the team? Bonino turned line mates into all stars and made the 2nd pp unit more productive than the first pp unit?

yeah, I can't remember why we traded that guy.

Hmmm. Totally possible just seems kind of like a knee jerk reaction. Agree to disagree about Guddy being a true top 2 dman but he'll go to war for your team and his teammates. I guess we'll wait and see

Penguins depth cart at centre:

1. Bonino

2. Crosby
3. Malk- Who the hell cares, just play Bonino every other shift and watch the wins pile up.
