But youre right... its a pack mentality in Babs system.. the forwards need to help out the D.. thats the most impressive thing about Marner and Matthews.. their ability to strip pucks and backcheck..

Trouba is a lot better than Gards. With Carrick and Zaitsev, Gards is expendable for sure. Leafs need some shut down guys.

Marner was a beast on the PK last night. So impressive. I'm not saying he shouldn't make the team but i can't help but feel just one more year might be best. Especially since we have a lot of youth ready and deserving .and to stagger contracts.

The thing is tho is that hes not a defensive liability... Its not like bringing a decent prospect from the O to the NHL. Hes a great prospect.. hes above everyone else. Id be more worried about Laine making the jump than Marner..

I know, pretty sad that in Carrick's 10 game stint I saw just as much out of him then all of Gard's time. I like Gardiner, my opinion is that I think he's expendable. That is all.
