The Islanders 2015-16

Let's do a best-case scenario for them:

1st line - Tavares, Okposo, Nelson - 174 points
2nd line - Neilsen, Lee, Bailey - 120 points
3rd line - Cizikas, Strome, Kulemin - 79 points
4th line - Grabovski, Clutterbuck, Martin - 67 points.

What am I missing?

He's a good player now, but he'll be looking to ink for 5-7 years... he's gonna start to look more and more like Umberger sooner than later.

I wonder if even Toronto is having second guesses about going all in on Stamkos.

With all the young forwards they have coming do they even need to unholster the checkbook and sign a 26 year old sniper.

Which one of Matthews, Stamkos, and Kadri is going to be their new 3rd line center?

Edit: And Nylander

Kadri... Marner and Nylander on wing then?

Why would Stamkos get more then Kane? Even a team like buffalo has to plan their salary cap 4 years out. It's fun to speculate about Stamkos. He has rare ability that not a lot of teams possess. I don't see a market where Stamkos gets 12 million with an uncertain cap containing to keep going up each year.

I have a feeling it's not about the money for Stamkos... we'll probably all be surprised by how reasonable his deal ends up being.

I bet he goes to Detroit (if Pavel retires) or STL (lots of money coming off the cap this summer). I don't see the Flyers being a hockey fit for him (or presenting a strong chance of winning immediately).

You'd think. He was pretty pissed at the end of the year. Maybe he throws money at it for once. Gives T.O. the double fingered pelvic thrust down the 401

Detoit don't have a strong chance of winning immediately, either. Their defense is weak now that Kronwall is getting old.

I agree with all of this. I think he gets about 9 million year. I don't think he goes to Toronto. Fine line between hometown hero and whipping boy.

Open market, also Kane and the rest of the players that signed their deals with their original teams get an extra year added

Their forwards look a lot like Tampa's from a couple of seasons ago, Mrazek is going to be terrific, and the team has a long history of respecting player skill.

There are some third lines out there that can do it (see: Jordan Staal in 06/07 - 11/12). But my question was to name a team that had that production out of both its third and 4th lines.

I don't even think the 95/96 Red Wings had that kind of production, and they were probably the closest with guys like Draper and Maltby on the 4th line.

- jmatchett383

That level of production is unrealistic. Dallas probably came the closest to achieving that. Not only unrealistic, but not necessary. It would be nice, but not needed.

It takes just two teams to create a bidding war. I'm just not so sure how many gms have the stones to set the bar higher. Also the team that has the financial resources

Kane has never reached UFA status. If Kane was a UFA, what would he get?
