That's what I'm talking about! Sweet!

Classes are OVER. I have this week of "bootcamp" then a year of rotations.

Then Dr. GiG, PharmD

It depends how much of your cap can be dedicated to one player considering age, on ice performance and any off ice situations. I would have a hard time justifying much more then 15 % of the total cap for one player. Granted, the cap is a sliding value from year to year.

With the Hawks it may be a long time till the toews and Kane situation arises again. Finishing their second contracts with already 2 cups won under the age of 27 and then won another after the negotiations for the third contract.

I just don't see a market where Stamkos will make more per year then toews and Kane. Of course anything is possible.

I think he ends up closer to Kopitar. For me I see it two ways. If it is more about a good hockey market and a team closer to competing then I see something like 9-10 range.

If it is purely money motivated then I see something like 11-12 from Ottawa or Toronto.

I agree.

It's probably just easier to move on a try to keep shaping the roster. Alos I wonder if the fact they would have to protect him in a possible expansion draft would make them cut bait and avoid all that.

I guess it depends on what they plan on doing with the roster. If they need the cap room he's gone... I'm hoping over

Umberger believes he will be bought out. I wonder if it is just a feeling on his part or if there have been some rumblings and hints from the organization. In a way it would be a good thing to do for him, letting him know ahead of time so he can prepare and make plans for the future.

I dunno. Whether it's about money, or being on a contending team, I really don't see why he wouldn't resign in Tampa. The Lighting are certainly contenders, plus, since there is no personal income tax in Florida he would save a pretty large sum of cash.

I know that athletes pay their taxes based on where each game is played (Duty Days), so playing more than half of your games tax free has got to be appealing (factoring in games against the Panthers). I think I've got that right....

I think the Flyers need to find away to make due without Mark Streit's leadership ability. I'm confident Giroux and Simmonds are enough. I also think they should sign a depth vet like Lappy to fill any leadership roles.

There, I said it.

The Lightening would probably have to move some guys.

They have RFAs this year:
JT Brown
Killorn
Kucherov(having great playoffs)
Paquette
Namestnikov
Nesterov

and then the following year:
Drouin
Palat
Johnson
Sustr
and Hedman will be UFA so he will get big money and Bishop will be UFA too

They will have some tough choices on where money goes.

That would be the only reason I see. However, hockey in Tampa is starting to catch on. They are in the top 10 for attendance this year. I'm sure that is in large part to the number of "snow birds" that migrate to Florida during the cold Canadian winters.

Very true. That is definitely an issue I'm sure they are taking in to consideration. I'm thinking that if they do strike a deal, it will be after an expansion announcement. It sounds like teams would have to expose up to 25% of their cap to the expansion draft. They would probably expose a few of their high priced defensemen and probably Filppula and Callahan. Then hope to god they get picked over.

Just how I could see it potentially going down.

I think winning the cup in 2004 also generated some younger fans who are adults today. My guess is, if ticket sales are off, it's probably due the economy as much as anything. Unlike the Panthers, the Lightning have a pretty loyal fanbase.

Not sure, but I think each team can only lose one player. I guess it would depend on how many expansion teams there are.

Callahan has NMC so he would have to be protected in expansion draft unless they got him to waive it.

My gut feeling is going this long and getting this close to FA ststaus I just don't see him back in Tampa. I think he hits the market and find somewhere that is intriguing and could be close to contending.

I think you're right. My bad. It'd be tough, then. It might still be manageable, but Yzerman would have to work some magic. I dunno, for some reason I still think he re-signs. No other reason than a hunch.

Totally right, here. My bad. Any hunches as to where you think he might go? I really hope it's not Toronto (not that they'd be contenders). I couldn't stand having him shoved down our throats by the Canadian media. It'd be endless.

Hitchcock gave a great in-game interview over the weekend. Interviewer remarked how the Blues' second period was going much better than their first and asked something along the lines of "did you make some changes between periods?"

Hitchcock: Yes.
Interviewer: momentary stunned silence...Thanks for your time.
Hitchcock: You're welcome.

LOL!!!!
