He could play bad.
I feel like he is mentally ahead of his peers and I think he can handle it. I don't know if there is anything else he can prove at juniors. - J35Bacher
I think he will make the team, but it is 100% possible that he comes into camp and just looks out of place. I don't expect it, but he's not a given to make the team. |

Can I ask why is it attractive to sign with EDM?
Do they really have that better of a chance to crack the NHL roster there?
Just curious as I see, not just the Flyers, but other teams that can offer better situations.
Just curious. - J35Bacher

He can ride shot gun with McDavid.
What do we have? Matt Read's minutes? |

I get it.
I wonder if Hextall is kind of preparing to keep him next season.
I know he preaches the patience but I also have to think he sees Provorov and has a good idea about what to expect next season.
I would almost assume that Provorov would have to be really bad not to make the roster. |

What's fairly productive.
I thought he was almost the worst defender at the end of the year and playoffs. He just didn't seem to react well and he looked even slower then before.
I know keeping him isn't a huge hindrance but I would rather move him.
Also I want the Flyers to explore Stamkos so my plan would use that available cap space. - J35Bacher
He's still solid IMO. If you limit his minutes a little and get him away from Schultz, he'd probably give you good minutes. I'm not against trading him, I just don't think it's worth it to do it for a 3rd rounder.

Over guys like Hall and Eberle?
I guess.
but like Bill said he isn't expected to really be a top 6 guy. EDM has top 6 wings and some are making good money. |

But that's tough when he is making over 5 million.
You already are kind of trying to play a mediocre MacDonald.
Also if you get a 3rd for Streit it's just more ammo either at the draft or you can use at the TDL if needed.
A trade I would like to see would maybe be something like this:
To Chicago:
Streit(50% retained salary)
2nd round pick(Chicago)
To Philly:
Bickell
Ryan Hartman

If the flyers are retaining salary on streit need to get a 2nd rounder. A contending team is only going to trade for him so the pick will be towards the end of the round.
Hexy can get schenn signed and grab another middle tier forward vying buying out umby. If the corpse of Pavel Kubiak could get two 2nd rounders, hexy is better off slow playing streit up to the deadline if needed. |

I don't think a 4th gets Hartman.
My thinking is you get a motivated bickell who can give some size on the wing. He is in the last year of his deal. If he plays well then maybe you can flip him at the TDL to a playoff team.
By sending the 2nd rounder back to Chicago you get Hartman who really hasn't gotten a chance in a crowded Chicago lineup. He brings a fast game and an edgy game. He is 21 and you can slide him right into the 3rd line immediately. Also kills penalties.
Chicago gets a vet defenseman to play on the 3rd pairing with TVR and also a 2nd PP defenseman for after Seabrook and Keith |

This is the only reason why Pavel Kubina came at such a high price.

That was a different time.
If your only getting picks you might look at something like Kimmo.
He got a 2nd and then a conditional 4th(that got to 2nd)
But I am not sure Streit has the same value as Kimmo did. |

The Flyers have $10 mln in cap space and have to take care of their own plus improve the bottom six. The only way all this gets done is if Umberger and Streit go away.
Brayden Schenn is going pulled down $4.5 to 5 mln., Gudas another $2 mln., Manning $1 mln and White $1 mln. That's around $8. Figuring Hexy wants at least $1M below the cap for flexibility. That leaving Umberger and Streit on the outside. Umberger will be bought out and Streit will be traded before the end of the buyout period or bought out. That would the Flyers about $7 mln to play with. I have excluded Read because I believe him to still have value around the league as top 9 forward.
I figure the Flyers to look for ways to improve the bottom six. I figure them to target players like Trevor Lewis, Troy Brouwer, Frans Neilsen, Matt Martin, Michael Grabner, Riley Nash type, affordable and still productive. I don't see them going after $6 mln men, like Lucic, Ericksson and Okposo. They have to get 90 points out of the 3rd line and 60 out of the 4th...they were even in the same zip code this year, if this team is going to improve. |

90 points out of the 3rd line means 3 players averaging 30 points.
60 points out of the 4th line means 3 players averaging 20 points.
Please tell me what team in the past 25 years has had that kind of production at that level? |

They will have a little more then 10 because of Lecavalier retiring.
I think they do look for bottom 6 help but Neilson wants to stay in NY. I don't want both Martin and White.
Also the Phantoms have bottom 6 players in Leier, Bardreau, McDonald.
Grabner, Nash I don't really see as upgrades to the team.
ANd I agree I don't want to pay for guys like Lucic, Eriksson or Okposo.
I would rather spend money on Stamkos, a top 6, 26 year old sniper. He fits all the needs this teams needs. If they could get him at 10 or under I think he would be ideal.
Brouwer would interest me depending on cost.

Probably needs a great camp.
Most likely a injury call up like Gositsbehere. Maybe if they move a defender during the season |
