Hopefully all this nervous negative energy is going to completely (frank) off before the puck drops game 6!

The Pens have got this far for a reason. Time the pressure was put on the Caps - I haven't seen any press about them choking or losing their best chance of winning their first cup. The Pens are a good team, no they're a really really good team!

If it's not broken don't change it - in saying that Ovi scored on the PP so his match up wouldn't have been Sid no matter. But I agree with Vic, throw Sid out there to put some pressure on the big peanut & hopefully contain him, frustrate him & watch him self destruct!

Hopefully the team comes out & puts all the ducks in a row & scores some goals - when was the last 5 goal game for us to take home the chocolates? 5-3 sounds like a nice win, sounds really really nice!!

Let's go Peeeeeennnnnnnnnsssssssssssssssss!

You keep Murray in for game six and hope the boys upfront do the job. Got to get Crosby and Geno going.

Anyway, now that the Islanders are gone, I'm interested to see what that roster looks like next year. Harmonic will be dealt and then Okposo, Nielsen and Martin are all UFAs.

Nothing too much to be done about it. We're playing a top 3 team in the NHL and arguably the best one still in the playoffs. Arguably the best team period, actually. This series was always going to six or seven.

If we had the Tampa route, we would already be done and moved on. I mean, big difference playing the Rags and then the Caps as compared to the Red Wings and the Islanders.

Agreed, but it is what it is. At some point, you need to beat good teams if you want to win it all. Looking at 2 years ago, Chicago had a war with LA that makes this series look like a petting zoo, and then went out and beat the Rags in 5. It's very, very rare that you win a Stanley Cup without a tough matchup through 3 rounds.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If a team is truly the best and it's meant to be they should be able to beat anyone.

There's two sides to this coin. On the one hand, if you take an easy rout you're well rested for the good opponent in the later round that you will eventually get to. On the other hand, if you take a hard rout, you get used to adversity and develop mental toughness. A team taking an easy rout could cost to one of the final rounds but then when their coasting won't work against a tough opponent they can completely shut down because they've been in coast mode for too long and don't know how to deal with adversity. At that point, the team that's been grinding hard to get to that point, although less rested, will have the upper hand.

That is pretty much meaningless rhetoric. There have been only a few teams in all of sports that were so utterly dominant they could beat anyone. Most of the time its a combination of being good and being lucky. If your Jordan era bulls or Gretzky Oiler's then maybe you can just beat anyone.

I just wish the Pens would push a little harder... The last few games, there were some chances there, but watching them, I felt Washington controlled the last 3 games by a pretty large margin. Sid and Geno have been ghosts, and the Caps pressure on the PK is causing some really sloppy puck movement on the PP.

Geno wasn't a ghost, a ghost doesn't take that mindless tripping penalty. Sid and Geno are capable of forcing their will, and at the very least, forcing the Caps to take penalties. We have yet to see that desire. It's disappointing.

I know this is going to break the page, but this reaction to Geno female doging gives me hope. Something we've never seen before.

good. he deservs it. he is the 2nd best player on the team (the best when he is on fire)
and he needs to show up for us to win. as do sid. we can't depend on the bottom 6 as
much as we do.

what I mean is that we are in the same situation as before "kind of" except now it is the bottom six that is producing and our top 6 that are not. what happens when the bottom six go cold for a while? well then the top six is scoring hopefully but they are not now.

I think we see an extremely fired up Pens team tomorrow night. A full 60 minute team.
