Watching them now, I see them as good or better than either PITT or WAS.

Both Pittsburgh and Washington will play just a tad better then the islanders.

I dont know. They beat a team in detroit that did not belong in the playoffs. And while im happy the Isles advanced, they are clearly not ready yet. I can see the pens or caps beating this team in five or six.

Legit question for Isles fans.......is it really just coaching or is it the players too? possibly both? if both then isnt Snow as much to blame as anyone?
- RatedR80

I think Snow is the reason they are as far as they are and still have quality youth in the system still. They still have valuable assets to give them options to improve which is partially due to good moves by Snow. This season was progress for a team/GM that didn't hedge their future to make it. That reflects positively on Snow. Hopefully he can make a few more smart moves and they can be a true contender next year.

I get the Cappy hate but at the end of the day this is Snows team...if anyone should be escorted out it should be him then the other dominos will fall
- RatedR80

Most feel that Snow's biggest failures have been not addressing the coaching staff. A close second would be the need for a true top line forward to play on JT's wing.

But the fact is that the typical educated fan who watches this team on a consistent basis knows that Capuano has been the teams biggest handicap. From awful lineup decisions, poor player development, lack of accountability, odd loyalty to role players and just overall tactical shortcomings, he has held this team back, IMO.

The bigger problem is that the mental breakdowns, flat performances and special team outages are the same issues we saw against Washington and Pittsburgh before. None of these problems improved, despite player upgrades.

So Snow gets the hate from me for deciding that his 'friend' should continue on. That said, this team was capable of moving past this round just as much as they were past the Caps last year. Jack, however, is not capable of coaching past either of these teams.

I dont think you would hear too many Oilers fans objecting to Ebs going your way in return....Ebs + maybe a 3rd or 2nd....he would fit in very nice with JT...the guy is 18th in goals scored in the past 4 years....that isnt too bad at all

Always have to worry but Tampa looks like they are getting better and Bishop is on his game.

They have been out a while. Cant expect them to be big contributors right out of the gate. Especially at the level of the next round.

I don't see why this season and the last 3 seasons in general should be viewed as a failure by management. I think it's been fairly steady progress while also drafting well and re-stocking cupboards and they should hope for more of the same.

I dont know too much about the Isles to form a real opinion but just going by what some fans in here thinks if the coaching and the players are the issue then I dont know....im actually surprised they lost this series I had them and the Caps in the east final

Playoffs 3 of last 4 years
Back to back 100 point seasons
Playoff round win

Hes not going anywhere

- Flexingtheshaft

100 pt seasons ain't what they used to be, in this age of 'everyone gets a point'. It's about as meaningful as Brodeur beating Parent's season win record IMO.
Two seasons ago was a HUGE let down missing the playoffs and should have been Jack's end right there. We were coming off a huge showing against Pittsburgh despite Jack's boneheaded decisions like Marty Reasoner over Grabner. Pens players were all talking about how the team would be a force next season and then we missed the playoffs entirely. Then last year the team fell on their face against Washington, thanks to the 0-14 powerplay that suffered for weeks leading up to the playoffs. As for our playoff win...lets face it, Florida was a subpar team ripe for the picking.

That said, I have little doubt that Jack will survive for these very reasons and this team will underachieve next year as well due to his sub par decision making.

Sweet no-show today. Elimination game and they can't score one F**king goal? Absurd.

This is going to be an important off season. Changes need to be made up front. Aside from JT and the fourth line, all of these forwards need to be considered for replacement. There are simply too many passengers. Too many guys who don't do s**t. they need to overhaul the forwards. How to do it is going to be the trick.

Lousy way for the season to end with 4 straight loses. This team has plenty of work to do this offseason. Nice they finally won a round, but not good enough by a long shot.
