Ur Not Me, you will need to get over the love you have for KO and Frans. They have been a big part of so many great wins and I know it's hard to let go.

Franz should have been dealt off last season best production
KO 2yrs ago, please these guys are good but NOT good enough to help team success.... Its that easy to see...

It's all about depth. If Okposo is your go-to winger, you might be in trouble. But if he's a complimentary player on the 2nd or 3rd line ala Oshie or Williams in Washington, then you have the depth to compete for the cup.

Hall would be nearly impossible. I'm talking Hamonic + top prospect (Barzal or Dal Colle) for him.
- rangerdanger94

I used to think that but mcdavid and leon drasati future contract demands are going to force them to trade hall, eberle yak or nug and i think when push comes to shove they will trade hall for the best offer.

Man o man would i love to hit mcdavid with a huge offer sheet

Kreider is young, big, fast which its hard to find, u put him with JT and the ice opens up more plus he'll score more goals than he did for rags.
KO has done NOTHING his whole isles career except the past 2yrs of being a viable offensive option. So yea, I'll take my chances on Kreider who can skate 100x better than KO and not trip over blue lines that are engraved into ice.....

That's not impossible. Plus, It could be hamonic with a current roster player. Probably a bigger deal.

I'm not sure what you'd be willing to give up for Hall, but I see some islanders fans saying Hamonic for Hall straight up is fair. Not here but elsewhere.

I see that proposal as similar to the Hawks offering Hjarlmarsson straight up for Tavares. Sure Tavares is a bit better than Hall, but I think it's a comparison that is close to accurate. I doubt you'd deal Tavares for that.

Rather try to sign Stamkos (if he hits UFA) then trade for Hall....

I believe the reason they were successful is because Cizikas and Clutterbuck are high-energy players that are all over everyone on the forecheck. Martin is a nice compliment to them, but imagine getting another guy that plays physical but can actually skate somewhat-fast and has a little more skill than Martin? I think that line would be even tougher to play against.
- eichiefs9

Would be great, but a player like that would come with a higher price tag.

Also you got any names ? Who is that guy replacing martin and bringing more to the table with him?

I think they're better off focusing on fixing the top 9 situation and just keep one of the bright spots in the 4th line in place. And if Grabos 5 mil comes off the books, and no 6-7 mill being given to okposo...then you can easily afford paying 2-2.5 to martin.

I compare him to Shane Prince fast but can't hold on to the puck, just bigger.
Problem with Kreider is he doesn't show up every game very inconsistent.
D
Skates fast but doesn't know how to stop other than using the other teams goalie goalie
Seriously we will agree to disagree on Kreider not an upgrade to KO.

Agreed. No way Hall for Hamonic is even fair. Not to mention that $6 million contract for arguably a top 5-10 winger.
Hamonic for Eberle could happen though...

Bold - who wouldn't want that..??

Put Krieder on a different team or a better C and watch him flourish, he's still young and what maybe 2-3yrs into league.?

Who said anything about trading away all the talent? This is another great example of the hockeybuzz exaggeration tactic. Take what someone says and exaggerate it to such a point that it belittles the initial post. There aren't many gms these days trading away young talent. It's coveted throughout the league and one trade or signing doesn't define a GM if that were the case Snow would be indefensible. You guys think Snow is great but hate Capuano and want him gone. Can't have one without the other or vice versa. Package deal.
- Cptmjl

I was responding to a guy who was talking about trading away Brock Nelson and Strome in a deal. .. that would be trading away talent. Not an exaggeration at all...

I agree on the Coach.. have for quite a while.

I posted the same thing that Frans should have been moved last offseason. Isles need two scoring lines they can count on a checking line for the third line. Just do not think KO and Frans are a fit anymore.

I get your thinking but why not just keep MM and keep the the most consistent line this team has and keep it together instead of phucking with it and getting someone that you think might fit and then doesn't. I'ld rather pay him a little more and dance with the partner you know than the one you think you do. Just my opinion.
- nyisles7

This makes way too much sense. This was the EXACT argument I was having when we got rid of the other MM. That was the best top line in hockey for a year and a half.. we traded him for Vanek... which I get.. but it was something that WAS NOT BROKEN .. so didnt' need an upgrade. .. our 4th line is constantly referred to as the best in the NHL. Why would you mess with that? for an extra Mill a year for Matt Martin? that is nuts.

No Matt doesn't score 15 goals.. he scored 10. He also is the only guy on this team who can drop the gloves with ANYONE in the league if they are taking shots at JT, or other talented players. Who you replacing that with? Boychuk? Boulton? It certainly isn't Clutterbuck.

I don't want to trade Martin. Nielsen has to be upgraded along with okposo. Can't keep hoping these guys all of a sudden start playing well in the playoffs. Signing nielsen at 32 to an extension is stupid and the guy was once again rendered ineffective and this wonderful defensive game that people think of has been absent for over two seasons now. Have to find viable replacements from inside or outside the orginization.
- Cptmjl

I agree on Okposo.... not sure about Nielsen. Depends on what he is getting paid.

I don't think anyone (anyone reasonably intelligent, anyway) believes we would ever land Hall-for-Hamonic straight up in a million years.

I'm honestly not so sure. I think they'd prefer to have another defenseman or defensive prospect. I'd have a hard time trading Pulock.

To be clear: I mean defenseman/defensive prospect instead of Dal Colle. Not in addition to.

Chiarelli did, in essence, give us Barzal and part of Beauvillier for Griffin Reinhart
