Think he made 1.3 this year so 2.5 will almost double his salary. So i am fine with 2-2.5.
- special_k1074

He made $1.3M this year, but his cap hit is still only $1M.

I never said you could get one for $2M. I'd pony up a little extra cash for a guy that can play better than Martin. That's all.

I get your thinking but why not just keep MM and keep the the most consistent line this team has and keep it together instead of phucking with it and getting someone that you think might fit and then doesn't. I'ld rather pay him a little more and dance with the partner you know than the one you think you do. Just my opinion.

If by plenty you mean one, then ok. Ha I dont really think he added much other than Prince was a low risk high reward (as usual) type of player.

Yeah like I said, I'm not protesting keeping Martin. But I'm just a bit weary of what his actual worth is. Personally, I don't love him at more than a $2M cap hit. Doesn't make it right or wrong, that's just where my personal comfort level lies.

I like Martin and value that fourth line probably more than anyone but I'd be hard pressed to pay him much more than that.

Don't get me wrong I value what the guy brings and I don't think he's a dime a dozen player like that (frank) face echiefs (can't stand the guy) but you can't pay him too much more and expect to dress a competitive roster in the salary cap era.

How are the isles gonna be a better team without Nielsen, KO, and Martin?

Yep. We now have Alan Quine and Shane Prince who each had a good game in the playoffs. You can bet Snow will ram the both of them down our throats ad nauseum along with his pal Capuano whether they play good or not for months. Book it

yup... although he proved me wrong during the regular season, his true colors came out during the playoffs; nielsen isnt worth the money. (and KO, that guy cant get out quick enough)

I don't want to trade Martin. Nielsen has to be upgraded along with okposo. Can't keep hoping these guys all of a sudden start playing well in the playoffs. Signing nielsen at 32 to an extension is stupid and the guy was once again rendered ineffective and this wonderful defensive game that people think of has been absent for over two seasons now. Have to find viable replacements from inside or outside the orginization.

A lot of points and minutes played your talking about.

Interested in who replaces them. Not saying your wrong or right but who do we replace them with?

I'm not overly attached to Nielsen, but who's going to play 2nd line center if he goes? Nelson? Not sure how comfortable I am with that. I am probably the biggest Barzal fanboy there is, but I'm not holding my breath that he'll step into a big role like that and be an adequate replacement.

I think Nielsen still has value, but I haven't the slightest idea what kind of money he wants.

At least this way I can have violent mood swings and blame them on being hormonal.
