I agree. It was that much more than the Coli, - ses111
It was an excuse, to make millions and live in NY where it has it all for anybody to live here.
Very good schools, amazing area's to choose from, NYC, all around entertainment, please, you'd have to be a fool to not want to live in NY if you're able too.... |

Jokes aside, does Hendricks still have some left in the tank? His age scares me a bit, but otherwise I'd welcome him on this team with open arms. |

He doesn't provide a ton of offense. But he hits like truck, wins faceoffs, kills penalties, and holds both his teammates and opponents accountable. He hasn't showed much slow down thus far and I believe is on the last year of his deal.
If I was Chia I'd slap the C on that goofy looking sumfemale dog and extend him. |

This team doesn’t take the next step with okposo at 7 mil per on the roster. He’s not going to be part of it and he is replaceable. - Isles_since_6
If he gets 7, but the market dictates and if it was like last summer he may get more. They should keep one of them (KO/Frans).
The players were moaning about the commute, and players around the league hear this. Plus being NY and with taxes, just like any other sport, NY teams have to over pay to get players to come here. |

He is the heart and soul of this team and if he is gone they will all be worse for it... period. I have watched very talented teams with zero toughness Stink in this league b/c they were intimidated. Martin is worth A LOT more than 2 mill a year. What he brings is FAR better than a Bailey at his number. - niteislander
Im with you on Martin. League leader in hits......he's just got hands like feet. I think he gets between 2-3 million and hes worth it. |

Well I'm talking about getting him as a throw-in in a trade. Part of the allure is that even if he sucks, there's no risk. He's, essentially, on a 1 year contract. He can do everything Martin can and be an effective hockey player. He's not just a one-trick pony. |

I won't miss him. I wouldn't pay him more than $1.5M per. He's a nice 4th liner, but frankly I'd rather stick someone with a bit more talent down there. - eichiefs9
We can't add talent to our first and second lines let alone our fourth lines. Look for prince and Quine on our second and third lines next season. |

What about Julien Brisbois? Has been Yzermans AGM since the 2010. |

I think MM is more than a 4th line banger Chiefs. He is a good LR guy and his team mates love him. I think they will try to sign him. I will tell you this I think there are going to be a lot of teams looking to sign MM as for what he does on the ice and he's a character guy. Hate to see him in a NYR jersey next year.
I think Hendrix and MM are side by side the same if you look at their stats, however MM is 7 years younger and bigger I pay MM more just for that, 34 is old playing the type of game they play imho. |

I'm not advocating for dumping Martin, I want to be clear about that. I'd rather keep him.
However, paying him more than $2M is absolutely absurd. I wouldn't even pay him that much, but I suppose I could live with it. If Martin is getting offers at over $2M and he walks, you won't see me the slightest bit upset. |

$2M is about right but it might be a bit more. i know you not saying get rid of him.
Until he's playing for the Rags, Pens etc. and he's rattling our boys into the boards. Gotta try to keep the 4th line together imho. |

I think the difference of opinion here is this : somethings value is what someone is willing to pay. So while he doesn't score 20 goals a season, this past year he scored 10, and has led the league in hits for many years now. Having toughness is not something you can put a price tag on. There's so much that Martin brings to the table, so to say he's not worth 2 million i'll disagree. For a team with ZERO toughness outside the "4th line", I wouldnt be so quick to let Martin walk. I think he deserves and should get 2.5 million. |

If I'm Snow, I'd start looking to add some depth via free agency.
Realistic UFA guys that would make sense for depth:
RW: Purcell, Brouwer
LW: Perron, Versteeg
If LA is still in cap-hell, I'd be pushing hard for Lucic. Maybe Boedker, depending on if COL re-signs him or not. McGinn would be a nice get, too. |

Honestly, leading the league in hits means nothing to me. I like Martin and his toughness...but there will always be marginally-talented hockey players that can throw their body around looking for an NHL job. I don't think Matt Martin is "special" in any sense of the word.
I like him, he's a great guy, he's a good 4th liner that sticks up for his teammates...but at more than $2M, I find him incredibly replaceable. |

Maybe we should just trade the whole team right? I mean that is the best we have done in 23 years.. but hey fck it trade everyone b/c you think we are all idiots. Then we can watch 22 year old kids like Strome, 24 year olds like Brock, 25 year olds like LEE become stars on other teams like Chara, Bertuzzi, McCabe, Loungo, etc. Fck it trade em all.. right? - niteislander
Dont come around here with common sense and logic. Just say trade everyone and fire everyone . Everyone is a bust. Even the guys who havent played in the NHL yet are busts.
