If you look at the goals Drouin set up and Kucherov scored, these are the type of plays you expected from our top forwards. Also the ability by the d to spread out in the offensive zone and quarterback the play was absent on our part. Our skaters seemed to have no poise once Tampa started to bear down on them. In both ot's I barely remember making any offensive plays or chances on the net at all.

Again, I am not, and have never, absolved Snow of all blame. He needs to replace the coach. All I was saying is that I see Capuano as a more glaring issue than a lot of the personnel issues.
- eichiefs9

If Snow stays so does his buddy. That's how it works. The last person I want as my GM is someone who makes decisions based on friendship. That's what we have here.

werent there a few guys saying this series will be easier than the panthers? that hedman was a turnover machine?? the guy practically single handedly beat the isles.

anyone going to own up to that?

- LetsGoIsles

Hedman is an amazing defenseman - I said the Isles matched up better with the lightning than the panthers, but you'd never find a post from me slagging Hedman.

so for one game in the florida series pulock and leddy were on the point on PP1, we scored two goals out of three attempts, one a one timer from pulock from a feed from leddy, then nielsen scored on a backhander in the slot which was open because the panthers had someone go up high and mark pulock. Then it never happened again.

this is just one example of how flawed this team's coaching staff is. You need to have a shot up high to open the down low play, if you're missing one or the other the pkers will be all over you.

The coaching staff does something right and then they go right back to doing what does not work. They have quality D they could play on the PP and they continue to use forwards like Frans on the point. This team should never play a forward on the point on the PP.

He is an amazing player but the islanders made him look even more amazing. That's the real problem here not how good he is but how bad the islanders responded to him.

This team is still very young and very talented. They need a few tweaks.. I am still hoping Hamonic changed his mind after this playoff run. If He did then the it will be interesting to see how the summer plays out. Lots of questions...

Is Okposo gone? My guess is yes..

Franz - I think He will be back

Matt Martin - I think He will be back..

If Hamonic has to be moved.. what will we get back? ..

- niteislander

Should have been traded within the last 2yrs, but u homers think he's some good player, dumbass cant even stay on his skates.....

Frans - has to go, keep another player who hasn't done anything, you guys crack me up with this team.....

Martin - not going anywhere bc of girlfriend but honestly is a 4th line player that "IS" replaceable....

I'm not going to rip JT, but there was a noticeable difference in how much he was working in his own zone in the florida series vs the tampa series. In round one he was battling and working as hard in his own end as I've ever seen, in round two there was a lot of missed assignments and a lot less effort.

not saying it was only him, okposo was brutal as well as a number of others.

if martin wants more than 1.8 mil I shake his hand and thank him for being part of the team then drive him to the airport.

why they couldn't take nelson off the top PP and give Okposo the job of going to the net...it's not like he can handle the puck without turning it over anyway.

I said we matched up better with them than Panthers... and still think that is true. Florida outplayed us and we somehow won a few games. We outplayed Tampa in game 3 and 4 and lost. This was a dream matchup and we blew it.. yesterday's game was brutal.. didn't show up. That is 100% coaching IMO. Game 2 same thing...

The other side of that though.. someone said hedman was not elite and I replied He is definitely Elite and I hope to god He doesn't prove it to you this week... Um... He did.. ugh.

No one should rip JT, the isles are where they are bc of him, that's a FACT.....

I always feel they need to prove themselves in the regular season. If you can only do a stretch of a couple of weeks playing at top level? How do you expect to survive a playoff run which is more than a couple of weeks? This playoff matched the regular season pattern of once they beat FLA (somewhat of a gift for several reasons), their focus in this rd was absent. Still very immature team full of young players with inflated egos.

I won't miss him. I wouldn't pay him more than $1.5M per. He's a nice 4th liner, but frankly I'd rather stick someone with a bit more talent down there.

Is Grabovski done as an Islander?
- Popcorn Kid

He was done before he played his first game. May be the top 5 overpaid players Isles ever signed.

I may be in the minority but I'd rather see Cal as a 3rd liner and grab another 4th line player. But that's my opinion.

Maybe we should just trade the whole team right? I mean that is the best we have done in 23 years.. but hey fck it trade everyone b/c you think we are all idiots. Then we can watch 22 year old kids like Strome, 24 year olds like Brock, 25 year olds like LEE become stars on other teams like Chara, Bertuzzi, McCabe, Loungo, etc. Fck it trade em all.. right?

I agree with this 6. Big drop off in JT's play in his own zone against Tampa.

He is the heart and soul of this team and if he is gone they will all be worse for it... period. I have watched very talented teams with zero toughness Stink in this league b/c they were intimidated. Martin is worth A LOT more than 2 mill a year. What he brings is FAR better than a Bailey at his number.

I'd be fine with dumping Kulemin and moving Clutterbuck up, but I don't want anymore guys like Martin. Physical is good, but if you can't function as a hockey player I don't have much interest.

No idea what will happen with any potential trades with Edmonton, but a guy like Hendricks would be a nice throw-in to take Martin's place. He's not young, but he's a capable player that fits on the fourth line, makes reasonable money and is only signed through the end of next season.

If the difference between getting eberle or hall is adding nelson or strome to the package then you add one of them.
