It's much easier to gut the staff than to overhaul 8 of your Top 9 forwards. Bailey, Grabo, Kuli, Strome, Nelson, Lee..........I'm pretty sure they all have contracts to play next season. Certainly some of those guys are tradeable, but then that just leaves you with the overpaid crappy players. I think we're more likely to see a couple of trades at most, but the core will return........unfortunately. If we're lucky, the GM (whoever that is) will sign a UFA or two. Then guys like Bailey can be sent to Bridgeport. - JohnScammo

I have no idea who this guy is and whether or not he is reliable, but just came across this on twitter:
@TSNSimmer
Isles season is done. Okposo gone. Hamonic trade? New owner. Hearing McPhee comes in. Will be interesting.

I would like to see some of these younger players with a proven coach. Hopefully Bailey can bring back a draft pick after his 2 goals. That is if Garth even wants to trade him. |

McPhee taking over would not be a shock. KO gone and Hamonic traded sure seems right. |

I'm not sure if this has been discussed? I'll take Tallon any day of the week as GM. Owners are going mad with this analytics nonsense.

I'm sorry, ses, but does Dale Tallon have NHL back-up goalie experience on his resume? If not, then he's not qualified to be the Isles' GM.... |

Before I trade Hammer I have the new GM sit down and have a heart to heart with him.
That said I also don't trade him until I get what I want in return. Druoin is still a Lightning and he and the team are probably very happy. |

I would think a new GM would have a chat with Hamonic. McPhee would not be my first choice, but if he ends up being the guy hopefully he learned from what went wrong with the Caps. |

Come on UR every GM has made mistakes. I'll take McPhee over our back up goalie anyday. |

It was a bad one, but all GM's have them. His draft record seemed solid with the Caps. Hopefully he was involved in drafting Kuznetsov. My dream would be Jimmy D coming back as president and he picks the GM but that's not happening. |

I'll agree but worried he might mess-up what has been so called established. |

I just don't want a new Gm to trade just for trade sake and not have a plan for what is really needed.
ex: Cant just trade Strome bc he had 1 bad year coming off a 50pt rookie season, is my point.... |

I agree. A Strome or Nelson trade has to make sense. I would not be surprised if Strome bounces back next year and especially if there is a new coach. |

I have a feeling the Rangers make a run at Frans, Okposo or Martin. One of them will be a Ranger
I think you guys should be more prouder of the Isles. They've made a lot of strides over the last couple years, I know it's baby steps..but just think back to DP days and how bad it was. I'm a glass half full guy in general tho haha. Pulock is gonna be great and Leddy is phenomenal. JT is just fantastic, he needs one more superstar to take the pressure off a bit. I really like players like Prince an Quine as good depth guys. Like the Rangers you have to get rid of some deadweight. But keep your heads up, team is on the rise
TB is still underated with that Triplets line, that trio are insane in the playoffs. Hedman too. They killed us last year aswell |

I feel for you if you sign Okposo. He will drive you crazy. I complain about Frans, but he is a very useful player and will do even better under a better coach and system. I really like Martin, but I'm not overpaying him. Pulock should be really good and Leddy and JT should continue to their great play. JT needs more help though. Quine and Prince are nice depth guys.
TB is really good, but this was a winnable series. It hurts losing this one even though it's great to finally get a series win. Thanks for the kind words! |

I'll take the Islanders roster with a new GM and coach over the Rags right now no questions asked. But thanks for asking Larry. - nyisles7
I also take the Isles roster. Larry is hoping the new owners follow in Wang's lousy footsteps. Hope he ends up being real disappointed. |

No doubt Rags are going to go through a downturn here. Core group is getting long in the tooth and they are under contract for some time. They came close but didn't win the silver chalais.
Hopefully with new direction the islanders can get that close and then win the ultimate prize once again. |

Cannot count out the Rangers, but it will be tough with some of those contracts. Hopefully no more Gomez type deals to get them out of trouble. No offense Ranger fans. I have no idea about the Isles new owners, but I have to think they rather not keep Wang's hires in place if they can help it. They have been in the background for two years and you would think they want to make a splash. |

I don't know about a splash vs just putting their people in place. Real GM and real NHL coach would go a long way IMHO. |

The core on the Rangers is fairly young if your counting the right guys (Stepan, Beassard, zucc, Miller, Kreider, Hayes, McDonagh, Skjei and Klein). Girardi (buyout) and Nash (trade) are the ones likely gone next season. Staal is the question mark, he has regressed and not sure what to do with him. Hank is the oldest guy on the team in that regard. Wether this core is good enough to win it is another story |
