Antilles Edmundson did not look good but the kid will be good. He has shown issues all year long with positioning. - BluemanGuruu
Just want to specify, I do like Edmundson, I just think his ceiling is a #4D on the Blues. I think JBo, when playing well, is a solid #2. I put JBo over Edmundson because Edmundson is easier to replace in my mind.
Though maybe I'm unfair to Edmundson. The Blues had Pietrangelo, who looked amazing even his rookie year, and now Parayko who looks amazing his rookie year... not used to the normal growing pains a rookie has in the NHL. |

When Edmundson looses his speed he will be just another Jackman. I give him a decent 4 years then we will see him decline. Rookie yes, but he is just a physical player. Playing along with MacInnis he would win the calder trophy also |

I was worried he was going to take a penalty along the boards right before that goal but that was a great shift by Jaskin. Not many teams have the kind of depth to throw a guy like him in the lineup.
This game was kind of the opposite of game 4, the Blues were outplayed in the first and lucky to be able to stay in the game. Once they started slowing Dallas down in the neutral zone it was advantage Blues. - fattyboubatty
The whistle was absent until the third. Makes you wonder. |

No. I have seen him make passes out of the zone this year I think Jackman made only a few times as a Blue.
Then again I thought Cole could be really good except for whatever his brain was telling him to do. Very similar in the bad positioning aspect. But Edmundson has more upside.
I will bet some of it is just he is more like a rookie and is having issues with it being the play offs. You can see him on the bench questioning himself.
Like a lot of these younger players he could use some tutelage on how to body check and position yourself to make a check.
That said I do not see how Hitch goes back to him next game. Struggling and looking like some confidence issues. Bring on a black ace. Just do not put Shattenkirk back on his off side. He was brutal in the last game six doing that, otherwise wou would probably get abgreat game for Bortuzzo before he would then drop off the following game.

I will take for good years from a second rounder who missed nearly a year of his develoment because of a back injury and then makes the team out of camp the following year. |

To start the game I was thinking that Captain Kangaroo must have had a stroke.
Second period Blues play their game and dominate. They finish their shots.
Got to say that Elliott played great. Much better rebound control. - BluemanGuruu
Elliott's glove and rebound control was better the last two games as well. He was catching a ton of stuff in game 4.

I agree, I think Edmundson has a ton of upside. You think he's mainly a bruising, defensive minded guy but then you see him make plays with the puck that surprise you. His passing has come a long way since the start of the season. Players with both of those attributes are extremely rare. |

No. Jackman was never a good skater and too small to be a top 4 stay at home D man. |

The off season is more likely to make the Hawks look bad than anything else. |

Not as fun as playing the Predators.
Was it this year or last year that I saw my first double barrel salute during an NHL game? When the camera panned to the crowd and a guy after the Preds scored showed how high his Tennesee education taught him to count. I kid but that happened. Only Shaw could out do him, now I am sure when the Blues got a power play he used the same words as Shaw at the refs.
Note the Shaw comparison has nothing to do with your fan affiliation just parallels between the two events. |

Signs of the apocalypse... Hawks fans cheering for the Blues and Cards fans okay with the thought of the Cubbies winning it all and the first Orange-American running for president against a known criminal. I think I saw unicorn in my pasture today as well. |

Ypu really think so? Would you say it was after the first period or second? I saw some I thought were terrible but maybe not as many.
Perhaps I was just upset with the weak over time goal from a terrible angle and clouded my memory of how he okayed that game. Chatting with droogie I was going back over Elliott's games and Inwas thinking maybe he has not been so bad. I like his being aggressive for the first save. |

He had a stretch from the end of the Chicago series to early in the Stars series where it degraded noticeably. He might not be at where he was in game 1 of the Hawks series but it improved a lot. Frequency is definitely part of it.
It was after the first period of game 3 or 4. I think game 4. There was a game a couple ago where he settled down, started catching pucks more, covering more, etc.
Face-offs is a strategy for the Blues since they are pretty good in the dot. |
