I know youve been on vacation for a while so I will fill you in. We have decided Giroux is no longer elite. Jake becomes overpaid next year. And the core is another year older. Umberger may officially be pronounced dead and Streit keeps showing up at Dennys at 5 in the morning asking for discounts. They have some young guys getting better but the core is only getting older. Its like the titanic with a pair of skates

Well you don't have to be around for a while to know that would be the general gist of things!

Yep for both. PK is an easier fix. PP? They need to major reconstruction surgery on that. It's slow, predictable, non-dynamic.

Love watching the speed and fluidity of the Sharks PP. I'd like to see some new ideas like those thrown in.

I'm done with the stationary pp. There needs to be more fluidity/motion. It doesn't work

After watching that disallowed goal. That was a bs call. Pavelski had the brakes on and PICKS UP speed after being shoved from behind and makes contact with rinne OUTSIDE of the crease.

Really was a disaster. This needs to be cleaned up this goalie interference crap

Sharks can go (frank) themselves. Were up 2-0 in the series I believe? Choke baby choke.

I want Nashville to win for our draft purposes. But this goalie interference stuff is ridiculous. It's just like the NFL and what the hell a catch is anymore. No one freaking knows

Jake needs to be skating. You got a beast like him. He needs to be better utilized. He should have the puck and be wheeling around like a mother. Malkin gets to do it

I agree it was the wrong call but I also agree with Scott Stevens (ugh) who said that the call was pretty consistent on how they've called that play all year. It pretty much doesn't matter that he was pushed there by the defending player. That part of the rule needs to be changed.

Eventually we will need to go back to a 2 d man set up, maybe even on both units...simply too many great PP QBs to not have out there....Sanheim, Ghost, Provy...maybe Myers or Friedman.

But, even if that doesn't happen next year, I just want the Flyers to get more dynamic. It starts with telling Giroux to get more creative and stop taking his sweet ass time. Work Jake a whole lot more. Don't have Schenn and Simmer just set up in a permanent double screen that effectively robs them of ever touching the puck and moving it around and makes defending top umbrella easier. Work behind the net more (they NEVER use this space). Have Schenn play more of a bump role in and out, making some more plays than just the old Hartsy shot and deflect. Maybe move G and/or Jake down a bit lower so they can make quicker plays to the net. These aren't hard fixes.

PP used to work beautifully, but the book is out now. And it's getting rave reviews.

I think all 5 guys have to have the ability to make a play, which they do, but for some reason dont do it. The PP needs to be just as comfortable working from Schenn or Simmonds down low as it does with Giroux from the top of the circle. More movement would help too. I know we re seeing the same thing. Really the main issue is just setting up...sitting there...and then expecting shots to go through into the net

As far as Simmonds is concerned, PK defenders don't really even have to defend him until the puck gets to the net. He's a RH shot who has to completely turn and come around to get a shot off or a jam play, giving a defender plenty of time to get to him. All 5 players need to be involved and a threat. Every PP, the puck is going to Giroux and teams know, and pressure him. Initiate the play from more areas, and add some wrinkles. A big problem was the Voracek was ineffective.

That Laviolette trash system has them keeping pace with the Sharks.

Ohhh how I would chuckle with another collapse by San Jose.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Aube-Kubel. Any chance he comes to camp and surprises people next season and makes the team?

Probably none at all. Although there's likely a chance he could be called up during the year for a cup of coffee. His straight line speed looks top notch and Ive read the flyers brass are high on him. There are things he needs to learn at the pro hockey level. Just from the couple games I watched of him on the phantoms the drop passes and cutesy junior league stuff has to go away. All teachable things, but the flyers aren't going to give him more than a cup of coffee if that next year I would think

The point on Simmonds is spot on. He is the open man on the unit. Don't even worry about him until he moves to the front

Roenick was asked on NBCSN just now what he would be looking at in the USA-Finland WC game Monday. He said Matthews is the only player he's looking at....in a game with Laine too. I can understand JR's issue though...he doesn't have the attention span to pay attention to more than one thing at a time.
