That I don't know.
What if somehow they got Vesey? I wouldn't mind that.
I am still one who hopes they get Stamkos. Not at 11-12 million. But I can do 10 and below. - J35Bacher
They aren't getting Stamkos. When is the last time the Flyers landed the top FA on the market? |

So, I might be super leight to this, but I noticed that the Team Canada roster features no Flyers from Philadelphia:
http://thehockeywriters.c...s-captain-of-team-canada/
Did Hexy release a list of injured players yet? Not saying I want to see any Flyers play in the Worlds, but I'm curious as to the medical statuses of Simmonds, Giroux, and Schenn....any or all of whom could have made this team. |

If Hakstol in unable to bring former UND players to the Flyers, why did we even hire him?
"Dave. You will always have me."
"I know, Chris...I know."

DUI's are so dumb.
Either allow it or dont. Dont set a limit to it. A limit nobody really knows if they are at, under, or over. You can either drink or drive. Not both. - jak521

There seemed to be a bit of a disconnect for benchings with Berube. VL certainly didn't like him. With Hak, the guys who were scratched never seemed angry or confused. That's a minor thing though.
Berube just wasn't a very good coach IMO. The scratching of MDZ, their best defenseman, for 9 games was absurd. The usage of Couturier WHILE forcing him to play with Umberger and still asking for scoring was pretty unfair. His handling of Mason - both from a usage and personal standpoint - was also a bit unnerving. Mason was legitimately one of the 5 best goalies in the league, yet Berube never wanted to compliment him. We still don't know the whole story about Jeff Reese either.
Everyone likes to point out that Akeson hasn't done anything since he left, but were Rinaldo, VL and Umberger really better options? Would Berube have given Ghost the same level of freedom Hak has? I highly doubt it.
I'm sure Berube is a nice guy and and a fine coach, but he was underwhelming with the Flyers.
Never was a fan of his stagnant, conservative system either. - PhillySportsGuy
There were guys not playing who were pretty unhappy with Hakstol when team wasn't winning, just as with Chief. A couple talked OTR. That is normal, though. Happens on every team and with every coach. When team is winning, the guys not playing clam up.
Reese thing had nothing directly to do with Berube. The DN report was bad info.
System was a bit plain vanilla but that's OK.
Umberger wasn't on Couturier line to score per se. Was there to forecheck and play two-way game. He was limited physically last season. This year, was healthy but still couldn't score.
MDZ deserved to be scratched. Not necessarily for 9 games but it ended up being best thing that happened to him. Got serious about remaking his game after that.

Mind boggling to me how some can't see how important that was for Del Zotto, and how Berube helped him to become a better player. Del Zotto deserves the ultimate credit, but Berube forcibly pointed him in the right direction.

After that he turned into a defender that was trusted.
And this year even more he seemed to become an all situation defender. He could play himself into being a solid vet moving forward with the promising young defense core. |

I disagree a bit with Del Zotto. I thought he played well early on and was pretty unlucky. I just find it hard to believe that a 9 game scratching was the cause of a turnaround. The guy was traded from the Rangers, benched in Nashville, wasn't qualified and signed at a 7th defenseman rate, but it was a 9 game benching in December that changed him? I think it was more that pucks began going in the net and his PDO regressed to the mean.
My gripes regarding Couturier were more about chief giving him weaker linemates and putting him in difficult situations. I think it hurt the team and and stagnated his development.
I know a lot of people give Berube credit for the playoff run and turnaround after Lavi was fired, but what they were doing was unsustainable. They had a top 5 power play, top 5 penalty kill and great goaltending. It's hard to miss the playoffs with those kinds of numbers unless you're woeful at even strength. |
