I'll miss all the "ya know laike' press conferences. I liked Hartley as the coach of the Flames but his player usage was questionable at times. I think he was a good motivator for the younger players and got a lot out of them. I definitely think the Crow will be Calgary's next head coach.

Hartley was fine but we need someone else to take the next step. I knew he was making career suicide when he would play Wideman & then Russell over Hamilton on the PP. Here a GM spends some huge picks in a hyped draft for a stud Dman & the signs to a very lucrative deal only to have your coach not play the piss out of the kid& make the GM look good for the assets spent on him. To BT's credit, he kept quiet, I would have lost it, the performance of the team & pulling that sh!t sunk Hartley, Jack Adams the year before or not.

Bet we see Hartley resurface in Montreal. I bet Boudreau is the guy.

Yeah I agree....it has to be Boudreau doesn't it? I would find it hard to believe they would can him at this moment without having a guy ready to step in. Maybe with BB behind the bench they can win a game in Anaheim?

I liked Hartley and am surprised he didn't get another shot considering the goaltending. But obviously his message wasn't getting across and they felt like he needed to make a change. Hopefully the next coach is a little more defensive minded haha.

I agree with you for the most part on his player selection. He relied too heavily on guys like Engeland and Bollig and even Bouma but in my opinion that has to do (at least in part) with the GM and the players he signed to big contracts. Those are the ponies that BT filled the stable with. Don't get me wrong I really like BT as the Flames GM. He has brought in some really good talent and has done some fantastic deals.

I do disagree with you on the Hamilton situation. I think they did showcase Hamilton at the start of the year when Brodie was hurt and he took his spot on the top line with Gio. I think they realized then that he was not ready to carry the load on his shoulders yet. Does anyone else remember people saying how Hamilton should be traded out of Calgary or that he was a bust or how Boston knew that this kid was not as good as everyone thought ..... I think Hartley sheltered him until he got acclimated into the system. I will give you that they kept Hamilton sheltered a little too long once he was proving that he could handle him self on the ice again but I think at that point they were starting to showcase other players to generate some trades.
