The fact that he had Matthews and Zaitsev in the line up over a month ago?

For me it's not so much about the lateness but how he clearly jumps straight up into the hit. - markmark
Agreed.
Ovechkin is a big guy and that had to have hurt. I think the Caps strategy is to wear the Penguins down physically.
If the Leafs ever make it to the dance again they can expect the same treatment. |

Roids at that age...parents need to feed him some bran. - Woderwick
I find this stuff (looking at pics of the kids at young age) hilarious. My kids basically the same age... was a cute little guy... we had offers for the kid to model... chubby the whole deal...
now he's almost 6'6" and 235lbs at 17 years of age.
he's not cute anymore. |

Could be but.... BUT... Letang out = Justin Schultz in. That hurts.
They are finally getting scoring outside of their top line which they haven't had in years. It will be an interesting finish to the series. - markmark
I don;t think he will be suspended. |

If he can skate and has a right hand shot we can use him on the Leafs defense |

I remember watching that segment ... I think it was a between periods deal....
the question was what would the Leafs line-up look like if they won the lottery... so not really much of a stretch... since everyone had heard about the Zaitsev thing already. |

As sad as it is, I think a big reason he will get at least a game is because of Trotz's comments about the Pens getting "favoritism" from the league. They are so so invested in optics that I think they will give him at least a game as a "see LOOK we don't favour them!!". |

If he can skate and has a right hand shot we can use him on the Leafs defense - Rang
He can. He shoots right... played triple A in the US east coast. When he stepped out to play high school hockey ... the coaches literally didn't know what to do with him. Played mostly as a forward.. but when injuries occurred they moved back to defense. At his size the coaches were frightened when he hit anyone.. and with the absolute "pussiness" in US youth hockey now... a good 2/3 of the kids coming up have never encountered real body contact. The approach of removing hitting was intended to make it less daunting for kids to play ... I think its actually chasing more of them away when all of a sudden they start getting hit at age 12 or 13.
Quite funny watching the defenseman taking the face-off on a 5-3 penalty kill... 'cause he's the only one who could win a draw I had never seen that one before.
He chose to stop playing because of school and wanting to have some semblance of a normal life.
Played with a few who will be drafted this year... I'm hedging my bets on the ones that picked who made the US development program. |

Did you guys see this:
At the 2009 draft, the Islanders selected John Tavares at No. 1, with the Lightning selecting Victor Hedman at No. 2. Then Lightning GM Brian Lawton had two plans: 1) draft Hedman at No. 2, or 2) trade some “established forwards” to move up to No. 1 and draft Tavares.
If Lawton were to have made that trade, it would have gave them Steven Stamkos and Hedman in back-to-back years.
Lawton said that Islanders GM Garth Snow didn’t want to trade the top pick. - RickJames77
I see this only working with Leafs and CBJ |

no kidding.... and he has a two year older brother - they can eat.
your comment earlier about "bran" made me laugh... the boy's mum often described him as the fibre baby, as she more or less obsessed about having the most wholesome diet possible.
certainly didn't hurt his growth any. |

same.. Flames had a high PDO run last season.. the fall back was predictable.. the Jack Adams trophy is really funny ... Go on an unsustainable PDO bender and you are a lock ..then get fired |
