I have a hard time imagining Don Meehan (or whoever the agent is) hammering out Stammer's details out loud on his cellphone (3 months early, in clear violation of the CBA) while standing in line at Starbucks picking up his caramel macchiato. - Atomic Wedgie

He was the franking worst of the bunch.
A broken clock is right twice a day.
I can't remember what his "insider connection" was, but it amounted to he knew a guy who played golf with a guy who was an agent or something.
The fantastic thing about this guys is they will continually harp on the one thing they got right, and not talk about the other 200 predictions they got wrong.
Want me to tell you right now that Stamkos is coming to Toronto? If I'm right, it's because my cousin's girlfriend's brother knows Stamkos' poolboy.
If I"m wrong, hell, it's because something fell through, but did I tell you that my wife's brother's gardener knows the guy who owns the hair dressing salon where Tavares' mom gets her hair done? He says Tavares to Toronto is a done deal... - Atomic Wedgie
Just like chronic gamblers. I know two guys who were straight up addicted to online poker. They always told you how great things were because they had just won X amount of dollars on a hand whilst forgetting that they had lost 3-4-5x that amount on the day.

Depends... are you offering the gig? First I'll find out who our main rivals are, then I'll post all kinds of nonsensical inflammatory troll blogs to garner hits, I promise. Actually I'll just declare the Leafs as our main rivals to maximize attention. - 1979AD
MATTHEWS TO REFUSE TO SIGN IN TORONTO
Says it's been his lifelong dream to play in Columbus

Presumptive 1st overall pick Auston Matthews has quietly made it known, through sources familiar with this blogger, that should the Toronto Maple Leafs select him in the draft, he will refuse to commit.
Matthews, an American, has always hated Canada due to the War of 1812. He feels that burning down buildings in Washington was disrespectful. He also hates mayo on hamburgers.
His lifelong dream has always been to play for the Columbus Blue Jackets, since he once saw an Ohio State women's volleyball game on ESPN4 and thought the fans were great.
Matthews' advanced Bludnersi rating last year in the Swiss league was 24.6. |

Since contracts are awarded in USD anyway, If I'm the Leafs (especially now), I offer him like 8.8 mil per, just go over the top on Tampa's offer by a hair.
Then, he gets to make his choice.
One side note: I'm not sure if the Leafs are legally able pay the taxation difference or not in some weird loophole. Like find out what tax is coming off per year and just give it to him as a gift or some poop. I have no clue.
Either way, make it just enough to beat Tampa's offer by a little bit, and put the ball in his court - WingmanWillie
Then it will be no contest for Stamkos to re-sign with Tampa due to taxes. |

Here would be my income tax equalization sales pitch:
If the most hated captain in the modern era gets endorsements like this, you could start shopping for Learjets with the brands that will be lining up for you. |

Dude, nobody ever had a Bludnersi rating that high. Something smells fishy here.

This is almost perfect. As you're editor, I'd need you to add this:
Matthews' reaction to the Leafs receiving the 1st overall pick:
"Oh." |

I think I'm going to wait for the right moment, and then tell Tanner some player has a certain Bludnersi rating.
See what happens. |

Did you ignore the entire second part of my post where I inquire about workarounds and, if not, then make up the difference in the offer?
Clearly not.

Well that's just stupid.
You can't argue with the Bludnersi rating. It's not subjective - they are numbers. They don't lie.
I'm guessing you are not intelligent enough to understand advanced statistics, Bixi.
Quit arguing. You are embarrassing yourself. |

There may be many factors to why Stammer doesn't come to Toronto.
Money will not be one of them |

There are no work-arounds.
The CBA clearly lays out that "circumvention" is a no-no. |
