What the Leafs have done in the last year is pretty remarkable, especially in the context of the previous 12 or 13 years of inept, and downright idiot management decision-making. Brendan Shanahan -

Removing phaneuf and Kessel while also getting some good prospects in return

Signing Babcock

Trading clarkson

Winning the lottery

Who would of thought?

Stamkos anyone?

That was my point at all.

My point was that Matthews is the oldest player in in years draft. He should be gone last year where I would have arguably gone 3rd behind McDavid a Eichel but ahead of Strome. So if last year he was included in the draft. Would you have taken Domi, Tinordi and either Tkachuk or Nylander to allow them to pick the 3rd overall (Matthews) while you took Strome next? BTW we took Marner too!

Stop with the name calling and widen your views. Don't buy into the hype of the number 1. Do what is best for the team.

What's with the Tinordi love? He is a punch line, a trivia answer.

Wow

And holy poop that's crazy. If the Sharks make the finals we get a 3rd in 2018 if that means anything

Totally agreed. I just love the direction and what they have been able to do in basically the last year. As a lifelong leafs fan, I'm just not used to seeing the organization run in a professional manner from top to bottom.

according to this

2017 has a pile of goalies, 24 to 28th , might better wait to draft one next year

If they draft one next year it'll be st least 3 years before hes ready... then who knows with goalies, they're often busts.. Id rather sign one next summer..

Raps are set up nicely though in terms of picks and cap room, they need to get rid of Lowry and Derozen

Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray was wise to stay at home and not travel to Toronto for Saturday night's NHL draft lottery made-for-TV reality show.

Saturday's NHL Draft Lottery left the same greasy residue as the 2005 Sidney Crosby *coughs* "draft lottery".

Yeah because he wasnt invited you dumbas

I dont know how im most excited to see, Marner, or Matthews.. gotta think Matthews because we know less about him and i think we'll be pleasently suprised by how good he is.

JVR - Stamkos - Marner
Nylander - Matthews - Kadri
Soshnikov - Bozak - Komarov
Greening - Laich - Michalek
13/14: Brown / Leivo / Froese / Gauthier / Hyman / Leipsic / Kapanen

Rielly - ??
Gardiner - Zaitsev
Marincin - Hunwick
7th: Carrick / Percy / Harrington / Loov / Valiev

??
Bernier

trade / don't resign:
Lupul - Grabner - Parenteau - Holland - Boyes

Stamkos, Zaitsev + top pairing D and a starting goalie as additions.
If one of Bozak / Kadri gets traded, then need for a 2nd line RW.

I fully expect Leafs to try and trade a few of their young fw's (at 13/14) and young d-men (listed at 7th), along with Pitts 1st rounder and 31st overall this year + some other 2016/2017 picks to acquire a (young) starting goalie and a top pairing d-man to play with Rielly.

Marner and Nylander can be switched in lineup, in fact most of top 9 can be switched to 1st/2nd/3rd line.

for goalie: ideally John Gibson or Vasilevskiy.
for d-man: I'd see Toronto go after RFA DeKeyser - Babcock seems to like him and would be a great partner for Rielly. other options Krug (RFA) or Goligoski but DeKeyser seems best option out there (Toronto could potentially include Datsyuk ('s salary) in the trade for DeKeyser).

I think this is where the pain comes into it. Still a while away with rookies making mistakes and such but my god, what a turnaround. Whenever you think you're there, it always takes another year or two

I know this is trading AM is starting to get repetitive but man. If you knew 100% that you were getting Stamko's. You would be absolutely stupid not to pick up the phone and see what the Yotes would overpay for AM. Just my take on things thou. Cuz I'd love the thought of OEL on the back end, plus Domi up front as the crowd yells Domi,Domi,Domi. Don't tell me that didn't give you chills to hear at the Junior's lol. Plus still picking 7th which you also then add something too to move up to 4th to pick Tachuk who 2 days ago most people thought we were happy to get anyways. Then since you added all that talent it makes some of the lessers expendable to package together to get a goalie. In one swoop the team is massively improved. Like I said earlier just my take on things but Stamko's, OEL,Domi,Tachuk and a decent goalie it facking intriguing in my eyes lol

With Saturday night’s fourth number about to be selected, Shanahan said the Leafs had just one of 11 balls in the hopper — the worst odds of the remaining teams
