If we could somehow get Shat that'd be (frank)ing awesome.

Sadly it would also mean the end of the @shattdeuces twitter account...

I'm not sold on him.....at least not for our team moving forward. I'm not even sure why.

That was my point at all.

My point was that Matthews is the oldest player in in years draft. He should be gone last year where I would have arguably gone 3rd behind McDavid a Eichel but ahead of Strome. So if last year he was included in the draft. Would you have taken Domi, Tinordi and either Tkachuk or Nylander to allow them to pick the 3rd overall (Matthews) while you took Strome next? BTW we took Marner too!

Stop with the name calling and widen your views. Don't buy into the hype of the number 1. Do what is best for the team.

Accidental report on this post. Refs, ignore.

Matthews has widely been considered as a better prospect than Eichel, and Strome, IMO, wasn't a great pick either(as Marner just showed).

This may seem weird, but if we don't get Stamkos, I see Bozak going into the season as the #1C again. He won't be the most talented center by any means, but he's shown he can handle the pressure of being a #1C. Matthews will likely play opposite of JVR.

Then you have the sheltered second line with Marner and Nylander feasting on easier competition, maybe with Hyman or Greening if you want a vet as the 3rd wheel.

3rd line, same as yours, taking the heavy minutes

And then 4th line with what's left.

Also, depending on the final rules for the expansion draft, I can see the Leafs leaving Marner in junior for another year.

I can see this happening. I just don't get the need to expand the league. 30 teams are enough. If they really want a team in Vegas or Quebec then why not move 2 franchises that are struggling and have been doing so for a long time?

Last time I looked, Toronto is not western Canada. Hamonic to Edmonton seems the most logical.
- Phenom

I thought he asked to be "closer to home" and then it was the media who jumped on Western Canada. I could be wrong. Either way "closer" pretty much means Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary. Not a lot of trading partners but now that it's off-season Islanders might not need a top D back, so Edmonton could make a move.

It was talked about at length. Mathews numbers are as good or better than eichel at every level so far.

you would think the price would be JVR or a package of prospects and high picks, extension would have to be included
- pinksocked

Then the question becomes, how good is Shatts in his own end? I would do JVR for Shatts straight up because that will open up a room for Marner and Brown

Wasnt last year, and we've added 2 better centres. How would he be now?
- burn

Currently Bozak is better than Nylander and possibly better than Matthews but he should be traded.

This year.
Kadri
Matthews
Nylander

Next year
Matthews
Nylander
Kadri

Either way what we'll have is three good lines that serve different purposes. It's hard to label them 1, 2 and 3.

I posted both Eichel's and Matthews' USHL, USDP (U17), and USDP (U18) total games played and points in Garf's blog. Matthews beat Eichel in PPG in all three.

He and Kadri traded spots a bunch this year, but I think Babcock found a favourite line for shutting the other team down in Sosh-Kadri-Komarov, so I think that ones going to stay together.

Pretty similar to Grabo's final season... Kadri is going to take the toughest match ups every night, Bozak will sit on the top line for his face off ability, and feed the top-2 wingers in JVR and Matthews.

Jvr Bozak Lupul
Greening kadri Michalek
Komarov laich holland
Boyes froese grabner.

continue the tank...
Change scares me I don't understand having hope for the team

- TonkaPhaneuf

I would imagine Kadri has earned the #1C spot now, even if Babcock sticks with pairing him with Leo.. I fully expect Bozak to be dealt at the draft.

JVR - Kadri - Komarov
Lupul - Matthews - Marner
Hyman/Brown - Nylander - Soshnikov
Greening/Holland - Laich - Michalek

Matthews Marner and JVR
gotta have one vet on there who is a proven first liner. I think this will happen not next year but the year after. Unless this becomes an offensive line where Kadri line gets tough matchups. I think we have 3 good lines and can't label them into 1 2 and 3, they have different purposes.

I'm going to try and sabotage their plans. We don't need more teams, just move the ones that are struggling
